If I were to buy a new pair of components for the front, but didn't want to use the stock tweeter mounts, would it be possible to mount them in the wood trim??

Where exactly? And of course it's possible...depends on how much you want to do.

ya....you can puit em whereever you want.....if you get any decent component system it'll include a few types of covers for the tweeters if you wanna install em elsewhere than where they go stock......check out the instructions that come with em.....easy.....
