Couple of questions

I've been reading around and searching, but I still have a few questions.

-When installing a 4ch amp, do you guys splice the wires for the speakers or is there a harness?

-Should I just splice the RCA jacks to get preamp outputs or go with something like the JL CleanSweep?

-What kind of LOC should I get to install an aftermarket sub?

-Any recommendations for aftermarket speakers for inside the car? (I was lookin at the Focal 165a1 and the Boston Acoustics FS60)

If it helps, I already have an JL 12w7 and JL 500/1, and I am planning to put in Doms TV2Nav.

Fatalilluzionz, do you have any noise in your setup, or popping, or other undesired effects due to the aftermarket amp?

No my sound quality is actually extremely clear at times too clear. I do not have a sub but I have already ran the rcas from the HU so i can sort of just plug in the amp when i do get subs. im shopping around for a deal on some subs. The HU i am using is the Pioneer N3 but i was using the factory HU with the aftermarket amp.

Do you think I should use a relay that is used here https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/diy-kick-panel-install-doms-unit-2006-tsx-341061/
or go with SNHOND3? The relay would be so much cheaper, and I think it would be better so I don't have to flip and switches or anything.

Did you have a shop do it or did you make the connections yourself? I'm curious about where the wires were tapped, and if you used a common signal ground or the individual wire grounds, as outlined here.

I'm down to two sets of speakers, but don't know which one to choose!
-JL XR650CSI (Front)
-JL VR650 CSI (Front)
-JL XR650 (Rear)
*I still have to pick which components, either the xr or vr.
orrrrrrrr

Focal 165A1 (Front)
Focal 165 CA1 (Rear)

Can I get some input on which to get? I'm leaning towards the JL, but I'm not sure.

for your fronts get the best speaker you can afford. Focals are great you really cant beat their sound quality. Next is MB quart (I have the q line in my front doors)
rear spakers are not as important they are used for rear fill. scrap you 6x9s if you havn't already and leave the holes open. You would be suprised how much this inceases you bass spl. But once again these are only opinions. Use your own ears
before spending money!

Another question has arose while thinking about modding my system. When I do bypass my bose amp to install an 4 ch amp, do I install an LOC for the sub in the back? The amp is an JL 500/1.

If you bypass the stock amp then you do not need an LOC. The 500/1 though isn;t a 4 channel amp. What exactly do you have? Do you have a 4 channel and the 500/1?

is a 500/1 the only amp you are installing or are you installing a 4 channel as well?

If you are only installing a 500/1, you can simply convert the rear deck speaker wires to RCA and connect them to the 500/1. You will not need an LOC. I did this with my 250/1 and it works PERFECTLY. If you go buy honda speaker harnesses from Circuit City or Crutchfield for under $10, you won't even need to cut any wires.

If you are installing a 4 channel as well, you would do it entirely differently. Best way then would be to follow the instructions elsewhere on this site to convert the stock pre-amp outs to 4 full range RCA's. Run those to your amps and use the internal x-overs in the amps to divide up the sighnal.

My system is completely stock with the exception of the 250/1 and a JL 10w3 sub. The rear 6x9's have been disconnected but are still in place.

Eventually I will be replacing the mids/highs with aftermarket sets and a 4 channel. Mosy likely a 300/4 although I really like the new Alpine amps and may go that route.

I found out that I have the Audiobahn A4004T amp at home. The specs can be found http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fcU0cBi...120#morephotos . My question now is that do I just add RCA's from the stock radio to the amp and use the output on the Audiobahn to the 500/1 in the back?

That should work fine. However, If you are not 100% confident in your install ability, I would recommend maybe spending the few extra $ and having a professional do the work for you. Preferably one who has a lot of experience with OEM integration. This is not the most straightforward install and you have a really nice car, would be a shame to mess it up.

Yeah, but CC and BB would not cut it for me. They SCREWED my 500/1 into the back seat of my RSX and made some nice holes when i TOLD them to put it on the box, and they used drywall screws.......guess how much i got back when I traded it in.... and Tweeter made a custom box for my 12w7 and made it sideways. They didn't rebuild it because they claimed that I already payed for it and can't return it.

Is there a place where I can get a replacement cable that comes out the stock radio to the stock amp so I can splice those apart instead of my stock cable?

I should have all the parts to make the amp bypass cable assembly next week. One end of the cable will allow you to plug into the 14 pin connector (removed from the amp) and the other will provide front and rear channel RCA plugs and a remote turn on wire. No need to cut, splice or solder.

Hi Jeff. I sent you a PM a week or so ago, but please count me in on one of the connectors as well. I have the know how to tap the stock wires, but I am all over a solution that doesn't require cutting stock wires.

Mercman is just doing this as a project right now. Remember that for him to sell anything over Acurazine, he will need to become an official vendor. Lets see how these go and if he wants to sell these to us later.

All apologies. Mercman, I would be very interested in assisting with testing on your project and would be more than happy to compensate you for your time and effort in building a connector for me to test.
