The corrected pin out for the stock Bose amp connector.

After taking a good look at the Helms Electrical Troubleshooting Manual for my 2001 Acura CL Type S. I realize that it has some major problems!!! I spend part of my day today mapping out the wires that go for the stock headunit to the stock amp and than to the stock speakers. After all that is hard work I typed up the correction for the stock amp corrector and thought I would post them to help anybody who is think thing about doing some stereo mods.

I have talked to a couple of Acura Engineers about the problem in the ETM. I'm hoping that they can correct the miss print of the ETM and give us people of bought the old one a new copy.

Are sure the speaker wires are correct? Normally, darker/duller colors indicate negative wires. And the HELM listed the speaker wires in the same fashion. What make you think the speaker wires are reversed?

I tested all the speaker leads. Everything that is marked positive is negative and everything that is negative is positive. I didn't believe it myself at first so I retested all the link a couple of time. The only major thing this affects is the phase of the stock speakers.

Just to make sure what I was posting is 100% correct I did some more testing. I took one of the stock speakers cut two short piece of wires and got a 1.5v C battery. I connected one of the wires to speaker post one and one of the wires to speaker post two. Putting the positive side of the battery on speaker post two and the negative side on speaker post one the speaker cone moves in. Which means that post two is negative and post one is positive. Which means the positive and negative connection in the helms manuals for the stock speakers are versed.

Not sure if it is related, but on my 99TL, Ron (StreetEffectz) and I both concluded that someone fucked up at the plant.

My rear speaker wires were completely reversed. What was supposed to be the left side colors, was actually the rightr side and vice versa.

When I attempted to do my rear doors, I was pulling my hair out trying to find the right color wires, Turned out they were on the wrong side of the car.
