Components for JL300/4

Okay guys, I'm looking for a pair of components for my tsx. I have a 300/4 butttt from what I read its better to just have the front speakers. I plan to bridge the300/4 - so around 150watts to each speaker. I was looking at JL but couldnt figure out which to get. Any recommendations?!?!

JL C5's or ZR's. I'm getting the C5's and just running the front doors and one 10" sub in the trunk using uncald4's enclosure.

Excellent. I've heard those enclosure's are top notch. I agree on the ZR's and C5's. If you have a good nuclear power plant definitely run the ZR's. But your 300/4 will put those C5's to work and they'll sound damn tasty!

What about the other manufactures like Rainbow and Focal? Best to go with JL?

I would recommend listening or trying out any speaker that you are interested in. For me, it was the C5's.

I'm a newfound fan of Rainbow, after recently just installing my first set of them. However, for many people like myself and casual installers, it can be difficult to source the really nice & expensive speakers for just a listen, unless you either:

a) have a friend who has a set installed, and has a half decent system pushing them

or

2) have a great independent car audio store around. a rarity and luxury around where I am, but not uncommon in other parts of the country.

For many of us, the best we can do is a "blind buy" based on recommendations of real world users. Heck, it took me 3 weeks just to find a dealer who could sell me new Rainbow components from the current catalog with any guarantee of authenticity. Let alone brand new 3-way components.

Rap, I would recommend looking at car audio dedicated forums for more complete opinions on different brands and real world setups. This is decidedly the best place for acura related audio and installs in acuras, but for some "this speaker vs that speaker" talk, check a dedicated area.

Good luck.

Good point. There is really only one JL audio shop around me and they are a bunch of douche bags. I'm buying mine blindly, but have never heard anything remotely bad about them. I'm sure I'll love them. Besides, they can't be worse than the blown stock speakers I've been listening to for the past few months.

Reach (or anybody else) when you installed the new front door speakers did you run new speaker wire from the amp to the door speakers or did you use T-taps where the factory amp harness? If you did go to the harness, or if you know, what wires did you tap into for the front speakers?
