component sets
I am interested in some sets. What I have in mind is the diamond audio hex s600 and the alpine spx-177a. These range somewhere btw 230'ish-300'ish and that is my budget. Which of the two do you folks recommend? I prefer to hear from people who has had one of these or heard one of these personally. Gracias

The SPX have HUGE magnet and frame structures. I doubt they will fit any Acura without a lot of metal cutting, and it's doubtful then.
Of those two I prefer the SPX, because they are Vifa-made, and they are better than Diamond - but I don't like Diamond, and I don't think they are high end audio.
Our most popular components at our store are the DLS UP6. 2" voice coil, neo hybrid magnet INSIDE the voice coil, better control of the woofer than any 1" VC component set, and the tweeter plays down to 2200 Hz! Really elevates that image, like Dynaudio, but 1/2 the price.
Dynaudio is great - but the tweeter is big. Morel is great too. I would place all of those above Diamond - the MB Quart of the oughts (and I don't mean that kindly : )

i have the older model of the hex's.
i think they sound pretty good, but not great. I haven't heard too many component systems out there, but i feel the bass response on the hex's is a bit lacking. I blew my silk tweets a few years ago, so i don't quite remember what they sounded like. I replaced them with focal tn-51's that seem a bit harsh, but i've grown to like them. if i am ever to change my component sets, i'd like to see something that would deliver a bit more mid range. I never heard the spx's so i can't comment on those.
dynaudio and morel isreal are good, but probably out of your price range. i've always wanted to hear some seas comps, but they are hard to find around and expensive too. CDT is supposed to be good for the money, but i've never heard them before either. I really haven't decided what my next comp set will be, or if i am even going to change as my diamonds are probably worth next to nothing anymore as they are so old. I might be better of just keeping them around.

The ACS 265 tweeters are actually made by Rainbow, they are the Rainbow CAL 25 tweeters, one of the best silk tweeters, go to www.EliteCarAudio.com, they can give you more info on the higher end components. The Arc 265 mids put out alot of midbass, they are also made in germany, you will definately want to dynamat the doors. The Diamond Hexs are ok, the Alpines are alot better than the Diamonds. I am not a fan of Diamond either. I am a big fan of Arc, and Brax.
