Guys
Three times in the last few weeks my CD changer
has jammed when switching from one CD to the
next in the order.

I get an Er-Er1 message. According to the manual,
you are supposed to take the car to the dealership.
That is a real pain when you are out on the road on
a weekend about 100 miles from home.

No matter how many times I press CD and then
either play or eject, it just switches back to the radio.

I fianlly found by accident that If I did the same
routine (after shutting of the car) when I was
parked, it ejected the CD.

Strange, but it is a pain to have to stop and shut
off the car to change a CD.

Anyone else have similar problems? And, no (because
of what I have learned here) I have never put a CDR
in my unit.

OK, I know this post I am replying to is r-e-a-l-l-y old, but I thought if anyone else could benefit, then here goes.
My experience of the Er-E1 code was resolved as follows, which may or may not work for you:
Insert another CD into the player partway over the top of the one jammed already loaded, and then gently pushing down on the jammed one, pull the inserted one back out, and voila, the jammed CD then was able to be ejected normally and the deck worked fine.
Tips: don't force the inserted CD in all the way so that you can't retrieve it as you are only using this CD as a tool to push down the jammed one which is already loaded. Also when you load the 'tool' CD you may have to insert tilted up to ride over the jammed one. And as a rule it's best not to don't play the thick CDs you record yourself (CDRs) as they may inadvertently cause a jam.
