Question CD Changer?

Hi everyone.

Just bought a 01 TL no navi and I want to add a cd changer to it (no RF) and possibly changing the HU. I don't have much exp with this electronics stuff and I want to ask the TL community about advice on what paths I should take and what equipment to buy. My budget is around 600-900. Thanks for the help.

$600-$900 for both head unit and changer? That's more than enough money to get something pretty nice. What options were you looking to have? Any particular brands?

I'm thinking either alpine or pioneer. Top priorities are:

1. intuitive interface (clean)
2. ease of installation (might get someone to do it though)
3. # of discs (the more the better)

It'd be cool if the installation keeps the wheel controls functional, but not top priority.

How hard is installation? I've read the posts, but I'm not that sure about going in and pulling stuff out.

Alpine is probably easier. You need a conversion cable to connect the cable from the changer to the HU.

if you go with an alpine, I have an extra Alpine-to-Honda/Acura converter. http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000171.html

Well, the stock head unit can only control 6 disc changer. The changer would be an alpine cha s620 with a hon/alp interface. I do carry both of these if you are interested. Installation is pretty straight forward, plug the interface into the back of the stock headunit, and the changer wire into the interface, mount the changer.

If you want an aftermarket headunit, you will need to make a custom face plate since the dash kit isn't out yet (it is in the making as far as I know).

Sux that the stock HU can only support 6 discs. How much is the changer and interface? Also, do you know the status of the custom face plates? Thanks a bunch!

Thanks everyone. I think I will wait for the faceplate kit to come out. That way, I can do everything. I don't want only a 6-disc cartridge in the back. Can someone post a word here when it comes out? Thanks!

Question

Effectz do you have any faceplate kits for our head units?
