Car Audio Advice Needed

I currently have Alpine Type R components(mids, tweeters, and 6x9's) powered by a Rockford Fosgate 300X amp. Also, I currently have one 10W7 powered by a 500/1 amp.

My future goal would be to add in two more 10W7's.

With this in mind, which component speakers and 4 channel amp would make for a better setup? I'd prefer to stick with JL Audio, but I've been hearing very good things about Focal components.

Also, with the two additional 10W7's, should I run a 500/1 to each sub or just use a 1000/1 amp? Are there any advantages or disadvantages of having three 500/1 amps as opposed to one 1000/1 amp and one 500/1 amp?

If I go with the 500/1's, I would be saving a couple hundred dollars.

Also, should I be running an equalizer? What's a good one out on the market and for how much?

U can just had another 500/1 and W7. For the mids and highs I love teh way the type Rs sound why dont you put the Rockford Fosgate 551x. U will notice a huge differ and your sound will be much more cleaner. Since everyone here is a JL fan they all will say get a 300/4. Which is a never awesome amp to.

personally i am a jl fan but i would not go with jl components.. i would go with focal, diamond audio or maybe some cdts... as for the amps... well that is a little tricky... the 1000/1 will not work... two reasons i say that.. one each w7 is 3ohms... wired in parallel that would be 1ohm.. the jl is only stable to 1.5ohms.. yest i am sure it could probably handle the .5ohm difference but you would still be under powering the speakers... if it was me i would look at either the diamond audio d5 1200.1 or maybe a us amps... but that is just me.....

The other huge issue is Current Draw.... I really doubt that your alternator can support 3 500/1's, and a 4 channel.... You may want to get an upgraded version... Also, for the amount you spend on extra amps and subs, you could do a great install... by the way, with the amount of current you could draw, you may want a second alternator....

Whoa... 3 Dub7's... I have a few questions.

What headunit do you have? Do you plan an upgrading your alternator? Do you plan on competing? And Why three?

If you still have the stock headunit, I would upgrade that first. When I got my system installed, I kept the stock headunit and it sounded like shit. My new Alpine deck sounds a hell of a lot cleaner that the stock.

If you do decide to get three, I would suggest getting 2 sets of components. That is, if you plan on hearing some music and not just bass. Try listening to some Utopias. I love the way mine sound.

If it were me, I would just add another W7 and 500/1 to what I have now.

Good luck with your system.

I'm running an alpine 7893 headunit with a 12-disc changer.

It never occured to me to upgrade the alternator...I'll look into that.

No plans to compete...only for my personal enjoyment. The reason I want three is to destroy my friend who has 12" RF HX2's

No plans to add more power to them. 150 RMS each is loud enough for me. I can't even listen to my system at full volume for longer than a couple of mins.
