budget set of components my choices....
infinity kappa 60.5cs
Sensitivity: 90 dB
RMS Power Range : 2-90 Watts
Peak Power Handling: 270 Watts
Frequency response: 41-21000 Hz
Diameter: 6.5 Inch
my friend has a pair of the references and they sounded pretty good.
or
diamond audio M661 or D661i has tweeters mounted like a regular speaker in ontop of the mid range. which eliminates the need to cut door and find a place for the tweeter.
Sensitivity: 91 dB
RMS Power Range : 200-170 Watts
Diameter: 6.5 Inch
what do you think my best bet is. they are both priced around the same.
or if you have any other choices for 250 or so.

Well, first off, I don't know that either of those fit a TL without cutting metal. I thought that the Kappa and the Diamond were both too big (??)
You can get the a/d/s/ 245 in that range, I think, and it has a front-mountable tweeter too.

i have diamond m3s in my rear door. they didnt need any cutting or spacers, streeteffectz installed them. when i was installing my stereo, they told me to go with m3s for the rear, becuase they were better than m6s.
I suggest the diamond m3s, and they are priced nice too....you can find em for like $100 online!

And only 21...
You're buying stereo gear for your Acura - this is fun, not stressful. Have fun with it! You can't screw this up much - it's speakers in a car! It's all good!
By way of comparison, stress is getting shot at in the Middle East while driving a Humvee with no armor.

If your going to get Diamond speakers then you need to get the HEX S600s. you can get em for about 300-340. They are the shit as far as diamond goes & they will blow away any kappas. You should go to a local shop & listen to them.

I'm not a pro with car stereo, but the most important part of the frequency range is the midrange (learned that in studio production). Inaccurate midrange kills the clean sound of music - so you need to get as accurate as you can with the components, which supply the midrange frequencies. If that mean saving another $75 and putting that toward a beter set - do it; its critical.
I'm actually heading down the Street's shop later this week to demo component speakers - if I need to bust another c-note to get the right sound, I know it will be worth it.
Nothing wrong with Infinity, just that there are a lot of other choices (not as easy to find in a normal audio store) to pick from.....
