obviously a first class install but i just dont get the idea of THREE tv monitors in the trunk, especially the two that are laying flat in the trunk bed at a funny angle. Why would anyone want (or need to pay for) three screens in the trunk no less?
Even if its just for someone like Shaq to show off to friends (like that stupid van he once had decked out with twelve subs but admitted in the car stereo review article that he usually turns off 10 of them because its too much bass to listen to) lets face it, who's going to stand at the back of the trunk to watch a whole DVD, but in any case the one on the trunklid seems more than sufficient. The other 2 seem like a waste and more like just "filler" for a lack of anything else functional to put in those 2 spots.
Dont get me wrong, the execution of the install looks real clean and well planned out, but it still leaves me asking "Why???"

2002acuraTL, I would think the purpose to have two screens laying n the bed of the trunk would be for "show" only. The cat that owns that bimmer could be entering shows across the states. Who knows but it's a damn good install. I'm gonna have to take a trip out to visit those cats and get my joint hooked up too. I probably wont do any fiberglass install but I seen there site and a couple of there installs and I'm feeling the work.

I get the part about it being a "show car" since the install renders the trunk totally unusable for anything else. But even for a show car, 3 monitors in the truck doesn't make a lick of sense. I was an IASCA judge back in the early 90's and I appreciate trick stuff (like the tiny monitor streeteffectz did in the rear view mirror on a previous install - which was both a great idea, and brilliantly executed) but this concept just doesnt excite. At some point overkill ruins the "Wow" factor in a custom install. Obviously "to each his own" ... but for me I just dont like it because i dont see how it adds anything and its just racking up $$$ needlessly. For the money that was wasted on those two additional screens, i am sure something else unique could have been done instead of being repeatative. Maybe just more attention to details like for example why not change the middle woofer's speaker basket color to match the color of the car or the color of the woofer cones of the other two front firing speakers? Or how about making custom BMW roundel logos for the woofer dust caps? Painting the trunk support struts silver to make them 'disappear' and the same goes for the big rubber grommet leading to the trunk lid. It could have been dressed up to match the braided wire used for the center woofer's speaker wire, etc... I am not trying to spend this guy's money for him. I just think there were better alternatives. Heck, even mounting a game console back there maybe with wireless gamepad controllers would have made more sense so viewers could flock around the car and play on that trunk lid monitor while they are standing back there.
One other obsevation, is it just the angle of the camera or is the top right corner of the left monitor closer to the edge of the woofer than its mirror image counterpart on the right? Seems like the other one is at least an inch or two farther away.

not to beat the TV in the trunk concept to death but here is why it makes no sense to me: Unlike TV monitors in the headrests, where the passengers can actually watch something AND enjoy the sound, how can anyone enjoy whatever it is you have on the TV screen when they are standing at the trunk and all they can hear is the thump of bass? It seems to me the only practical way to go if you are going to put a monitor in the trunk is to also design the system to include midrange and tweeters back there also so that a person watching the monitor could also enjoy the full range sound.

Yes, in our own cars, we usually incorporate components in the trunk too. But, since this is a customer's car, we do what they want. The trunk lid monitor has to be one of my favorite screens to put in a car. It's nice not only for the "wow" factor, but it's nice to sit behind the car during long ass car shows and watch a movie or play video games. At shows, more people get excited about screens in the trunk than most any other place in the car. And since it's all about shows, that's why people put them there.
