<unabashed plug>

DLs has a 6.5 coax with a 16mm silk dome tweet and an external xover that kicked ass on deck power in an SI we put them in the other day. Like $150 a pair.

You can't go wrong with Infinity or Diamond speakers.

Actually, I don't like Infinity speakers at all. You'd do better with Boston or the JL coax.

I hooked my ride up with the new Infinity 6000 series. They sound pretty damn good for the money. I got the entry level speakers. MY EARS can barely tell the difference between my $99 Infinity 6.5's and the $650 Focal seperates. I'm sure elduderino's hand held frequency tester dealy can though.

i'm sure elduderino's ear can hear the difference without his tester having dealt with audio for however long he's been.

The RTA is a tuning tool, not a tool to tell us what our experience should be. It's true that audio has a personally unique aspect to it, since our ears are shaped differently -but not that differently.

In addition, it's an observed phenomenon that our own cars always sound better to us than other poeple's cars. NO kidding. I think it's because we feel more relaxed and comfortable in our own cars and we let ourselves notice things that we might not notice in other cars where we are not as relaxed.

In my experience, *most* people who don't hear a diff between $99 speakers and $650 speakers (in a relevant listening situation) are people who already expected not to hear a difference. I get non-"expert"people who remark on speaker sound differences all of the time- especially when I *don't* tell them about how impressed they should be before they hear them. Hearing good recordings reproduced well weems to be someting that happens more often when we aren't placing expectations on ourselves... but anyway.

Either that or they were listening to Britney Spears : )

If you can find a used Boston RM6. I think those are one of the best coaxials.

Because I think that they are bright and harsh on the top end and thin in the midrange.

They sound detailed in the board, and for that reason are easy to sell, but they grow fatiguing over time.

I used to sell Infinity.
