hey guys
i bought 2 12" Kicker CVR subs in a ported box but not quite sure what kinda amp i need. subs put oout 1600 watts. help please

heres some specs

There are many things wrong with this post, and we're going to need more information before anyone can suggest which amp you should use. First, subs don't put out watts. Second, you need to be looking at watts RMS not max watts. Max watts means nothing in terms of daily use. Third, you listed both possible voice coil combinations for those subs. You need to narrow it down. Are your subs dual 2 or dual 4. This will greatly influence which amp you choose, since this decides what impedance level your amp will have to run at... come back when you have more information.

And sony amps are probably the worst available... don't waste your money...

^agreed, sony sucks balls do not waste your time with them. you'd be better of giving me the money that you would pay for that amp and i can just kick you in the balls, would save you a lot of time and frustration
but as far as amps, you would need to first post what voice coils your subs have, and get an amp that will push out around 800 W RMS at the impedance you would have to wire the subs at. I'd usually suggest around 900W RMS or more, but with a ported enclosure it's easier to damage your subs with a lot of power, so i'd say anywhere around 800 and you should be good.

i have a sony Explode 800w Amp n its powering 2 12'' sub (2000w) i never had any problem. they sound good better then any other amp i had

U need a Mono (1-Channel) amp if u only want to power the subs don't get more then 2 channel amp cause its going to sound like ass

^if you want to use a 4 channel amp for subs that would be fine, it's just it would run a lot hotter and a lot less effiecient than a class D amp (which is what most mono amps are). And some of the 4-channel amps are not bridgeable to my knowledge. The only thing that are better about the class A/B 4 channel amps would be the sound quality, which is not really noticeable for subs

Emran247, there are many things wrong with your post... First off, you 800w Sony Explode probably isn't putting out any more than 200w RMS (the value that actually counts, not your MAX watt value). Same thing goes for your subs... I can almost guarantee that if you hooked ONE of your 2000w subs to my 1200w RMS amp, it would be blown in about 5 minutes. 2nd, you do not need a mono or 2 channel amp to power subs. You can use a 4-channel, but you'd have to bridge the channels. This is an option, although it is more likely going to be more expensive.

OP, check out Hifonics amps, as they are pretty cheap, and put out some decent power... But check your impedance on the subs first, so you know what kind of power you'll be needing...
