Beating a Dead Horse About Navi to Video/ Stereo ????'s !!!

I know that I am beating a dead horse here but I am new to the forum and the TL world and have some questions.
I recently purchased my 2nd TL, a 02 TL Type S w/Navi and was wanting to add DVD to the factory screen....what do I need??? I have read things about a product from Pioneer that is hard to get AVC-??? and some other part from VSOLOK (or something like that) I have also read a BLITZSAFE???? What do I need? A simple list would be great if this can be done......I searched the forum over and found alot of the needed info for the 3rd gen.

Also, next week I plan on my sound quality install into the car. I plan on installing 3 of my Zapco Amps.....has anyone ran a big sound quality system off of the factory head unit? I am going to run a set of CD1PRO Image Dynamic horns in the dash, 2 8" Image Dynamics Mid bass drivers in the rear and 3 Image Dynamics subs in the trunk...............one morwe question that I have seen and searched the forum for......what is so special about the 02 head unit? I read something about AUX by pushing the CD button twice.....tried it and nothing worked? PLEASE HELP>>>>>>>TIRED OF SEARCHING AND FINDING THE WRONG ANSWERS.

You cant get the best sound if you are going to use the factory HU. Im sure you know that it lacks in the SQ department vs. a good aftermarket one. But your components sound very nice!!! good luck with that, and dont stop asking questions.

you need a converter... the actual thing that allows you to swtich from navi to dvd... the AV electronics converter is no longer available... so Vsokolov (thats his sn or handl or whatever u wana call it on this forum) well he sells the converter and hte blitzsafe... the blitzsafe is the sound module- relay's the sound to the int speakers... the conver does the work in allowing a second video out put.... so pretty much you have Navi, and then you connect a DVD player to the converter which allows you to play DVD's on the navi screen.. ill go on if ur with me.......... any questions so far?

Thanks........that was all I needed......just someone in plain english to describe what I needed and how to solve it.
About the factory head unit........I am a very sound quality oriented person. I have always swapped out the head unit (1st thing) and began my system from there.... as this is where your SQ begins..........but this time, I hate to loose the factory look and the vocal navigation chimes. I have done some research on a product called the Sound Gate Line Level Converter.......has anyone used this???? It works as any other LLC would but is supposed to be very clean.......I think that a fellow by the name of Richard Clark is somehow involved with this company. (Richard Clark was on the IASCA circuit for years and won many many SQ contests if not every one of them for several years)

im not to familiar of what you have to do when swtiching out the stock headunit... i left the same unit but added amps and subz... i like to leave the int as it is- make it seem like i have nothign when the car is off.... and EVERYTHING is hidden... my dvd player is in my glovebox so if its closed you cant ssee that i have anything.

I am going to attempt the stock unit and I think that I can make it work as well as an aftermarket deck. The Soundgate LOC is supposed to have a 2.5 voltage output (RMS) from the stock head unit and if you look at most aftermarket (mostly lower end) head units have 2.4-2.8 volts........I realize that some higher end aftermarkets would be better, but I am going to go the Soundgate route first!!! I'll let everyone know how it goes.......

After doing some thinking, when running the audio for my DVD, I am not going to use the Blitzsafe, as all I have to do is run the audio from the DVD via coax cables to my Symmetry EQ (EPX2) and use input "B" for DVD Audio.........saves a little money and may even be cleaner!!!

ya the output voltage is ok, but the problem with stock decks is they usually dont cover the whole sound range 20-20k Hz, probably because stock speakers cant even come close to that. Im not certain about the blose deck, but that is something to keep in mind for complete sound.

I have a 3rd gen 05 TL and I am using the stock HU and all aftermarket stuff. I have the DVD conversion.. i used Tsokolov's unit, the shop did their own wiring using relays and I didn't need the blitzsafe or anything other comonents.. The only thing is that I have two switches.. 1 is for the DVD to Nav screen and the other (because they tapped into my XM for the aux in) is for the DVD audio or the XM audio...

I don't know exactly how anythiing sounds as I will be getting my car back tomorrow.. but i will let you know..

Let me know if you have any questions

Ryan

p.s. pics coming sat or sun.

Dtp,

basically they cut the wire and split the feed running the xm and now they both (xm and dvd audio) use the same feed. The sound is cut in half I think when using the xm and dvd.. but since I have them wired through my sound system (high end amps and speakers) it still sounds much louder than stock and sounds cristal clear.

I shoud have pics up soon.... waiting on my digital camera
