Bass Governer?
Bass Governer?
Has anyone experianced this problem? The higher the volume on the radio the lower the bass goes? I just installed Alpine Type-R subs along with the Alpine 1000watt amp. And when I go over 20 on the volume the bass drops out. Anyone know whats going on?

Actually I believe it cuts Treble and Bass to neutral levels starting at the volume of 30.
Its very absurd having extra bass at 15 and none at 35

Jigga and Slo.. Are you guys using the leads to the rear door speakers as the input to your amp? Where are you getting the input to the amp from.
Just picked up some alpine S for the (4) 6.5's and (2) 6x9's. Circuit City has a sale right now, buy a pair get the 2nd half price. Now I'm thinking of amping the 6x9's and one pair of 6.5's

So the radio has no control over the bass limiting, the audio guy is telling me that I cannot bypass the stock amp.

An electrical drawing for the wiring is located somewhere in this forum. Run a search for it.
The crossover for the bass is located in the OEM amp. Bypass the amp and you'll have no problems.
EDIT: The OEM amp takes off all the engine noise from the audio signal that comes from the OEM head unit. You'll need a very good LOC or line driver to get rid of the noise. Several threads have brand/model suggestions. Tuan209 has some good suggestions.

so what's going on now is that I have to buy a bew deck with 3 preouts one for fronts one for rears and one for subs, and this is the only way to get the best use of my stuff right?

The rear speakers (still stock) run from the OEM amp.

I used the low-level signal from the HU: lot's of engine noise there, but no ups and downs in frequency present elsewhere. For woofers (6.5), you'll have to bypass the stock amp to amplify it. Otherwise, you'll get distortion since the signal is already amped. A good LOC or line driver will cut the noise away. ** Emphasis on good, not the $20 stuff. **
See the drawing I posted above for the wires you'll need. Make sure the audio wires are in the opposite side of the car as the power leads to the amp you install.
