Question Bass

Does anyone have any ideas on a good way to get my subwoofer bass into the car. Mine sounds like the bass is all in the trunk. On my 85 BMW 325 I had a large hole drilled through the rear decklid directly into the subwoofer box. My bass was very solid. I was using the same subs and amplifier I have now. A Rockford Fosgate 1100A2 bridged into 2 Power DVC 12" Subs. I really dont want to chop a hole through my rear deck in my TL. Any ideas?

Fire the box so the subs are facing towards the rear of the trunk. Place your box as close to the cabin as possible. If your car has a ski pass open it up. What kind of box do you have? You may also want to play with the gains on the sub amp. There are a lot of fators that will come into play. No two cars will ever sound alike, even if they have the same system. Your 3 series was also a smaller car and the bass probably reflexed in the car better. The BMW also has a tendency to resonate less due to BMW using heavier metals.

MMATS DC1200 amp for the subs, MMATS LM2525 for the mids and highs, Phoenix Gold Zeropoint crossover, Phoenix Gold Zeropoint distribution block, lots and lots of Monster Cable, neon lighting.

Comptech headers, Koni rear struts, brake upgrade and Inspire tail lights to come in the not so distant future.

Wink

Well the subs are facing each other. Its a three chamber isobaric box. Each sub has its own sealed chamber and the one between them has a large port. The port is facing the rear of my car. I try to keep the box as close to the cabin as possible but TLs have those stress bars (I think that what they are) and they're in the way. How did u guys get around them? My gains on the amp are also turned up and I also keep the skihole open. Maybe I should try a ported box and add another amp but then a would need a high performance alternator and an extra battery or I should port the rear deck directly into the middle chamber. I dont like chop jobs though.

I had it setup the same way in my last car but I dont want to cut a big hole like that in the rear deck. My car doesnt have a factory sub in the rear deck or else it would be easy. Right now I just open the ski hole, it helps a little but it still sounds a little muffled and I hear alot of rattling. Its very annoying.

streeteffectz and i were goig to do the same thing but becuse of those stress bars the box wouldnt have enough airspace... i also thought about a port through th ski pass through but the only problem with that is that you arent going to get as much bass because it would be firing to the headunit area and it wouldnt be as clear or sound "that" great cause the point is to have it deflecting off of somethin
