Audio buy/install in Maryland.

Anyone in the area that can recommend a place that won't rape me on stereo install prices? Or even better, that has good prices on headunits/speakers too? After pricing things at Tweeter I am not convinced I want to use them. They also told me if I just wanted to replace the head unit, they can just wire an aftermarket like a 9815 without any adapter and there won't be any problems. Every person I have talked to said this will eventaully blow the speakers, fry the wires, or ruin the amp. So I am skeptical that they have much experience with installs for our car.

Also, if anyone is extremely familiar with the 01-03 CL stereo plz PM me -- I'd really like to chat about the options I am thinking about for upgrades. Searching the forum has answered a lot of my questions, but also caused some confusion at the same time.

thanks,

--D

Depends on what you want to do, I replaced all 4 speaker by-passed the amp, installed an aftermarket Alpine power amp and an Infinity Subwoofer. I also added a cap. I am very happy with my setup. PM for more questions.

if you really want the cheapest prices, order off the internet. SoundDomain is great becuase they have price match+5% and you can get your equipment authorized so it has the warranty. I know of a few places in VA. New Sound in Manassas is great for Phoenix Gold and Kicker, M.A.S. Audio in woodbridge is great for memphis and JL.

From what I have read so far about the factory bose system I have figured that I will not even mess with ANY of the factory wiring. I hear it is strait wire not braided and you would get noise.

Right now I have nothing for a system But I am planning and researching "the perfect SQ system". When I do the Install I will not use any wire already in my car. I am going to run fresh pos(to the batt), neg (to the chasis), and ignition (to the ignition switch) for the Head Unit. I do not want ANY noise in my system. From the headunit I am planing to run RCA's to my amps, and run new 12ga wires from each crossover. to the speakers. I am plannning on only having a front stage and subs. (because that is the way SQ systems are set up).

If you have any questions ask away.

I just bought a Mazda3 (I couldn't afford an '03 6MT CL-S) and I too am looking for a good shop in Maryland that will do quality installs. I may purchase the equipment from them too if they aren't too greedy.

I'm looking to have a DVD Navi system put in the Mazda3 but retain the stock head unit. Anyway, please post here or PM me if you have recommendations. TIA!

I'd go with Tweeter. I know the Install manager (long time friend) at the Tweeter in Manassas, VA if you don't mind the drive. He will do nothing but top notch work for you.

Isn't New Sound in manassas outta business? I heard they closed down. MAS in woodbridge is decent I just wouldn't have them install anything for me.

iv done my share of shopping for the cheapest place with "good work" but when it comes down to it, you get what you pay for. now that iv learned my lesson im going to streeteffectz for my BODYWORK and they specialize in audio/video but their work is THEvbest i have seen.

my suggestion get it from street, get it installed by street, and then say THANK YOU to street
