TSX Polk Momo 6x9

Polk Momo 6x9 TSX.
The right side just barely touches one of the trunk rods, I found 1/16" mdf
spacer for that on the net. Left side doesn't need a spacer.

Wow...they look really good. How do those sound, they hook as if they would give off some good bass.

Do you have an amp going to them?

That's what I was thinking. Either that or he is going with no grills at all.

I can't say enough about them. I don't see why I would need an amp.

You can listen to the Polk
head to head to most of the other brands at Circuit City, CC has MBQuart
and other popular ones. My ear always goes to the Polk when I compare.

There are bass lines in the music that I never heard before.
Some of the hip hop music with a lot of bass is really strong now. I listen
to old stuff, Tom Petty has a lot of bass. That's were I said I'm now
hearing bass lines that weren't there before, on the Petty CD's.

The top grill didn't take any modification but I don't have the 1/16 spacer
in the passenger side yet. I just have a dynamat gasket in.

I tested connecting only the high side from the crossover, the rears do
get mids so the 3-way isn't wasted back there.

I already had four db650's in the doors. This was nice step up, I don't
know how it would be with stock door speakers because I did the 6x9's
second. The 6.5 Momo's would take too much
modification including cutting out the door metal so I have db650's.

Thanks.

I didn't see the model number in the post. Is it the DB690 for ~$150 at Circuit City?

Thanks

So I get from what you're saying that you are running 2 pair of Polk 6" coaxials and 1 pair of Polk 6x9 component/coaxials (I guess they call them that due to the seperate xover which is a very good thing, but it's still a coax - all off of the OEM amp?

The 6x9's in my post are Momo label, not sure of the part number.
Momo's have an external xover that you see in the photo. They are 3 way.

The db650 and db690 are a level down in price but also very good.
There is a difference that you can hear at circuit city, I would prefer the
momo 6.5 for door speakers but the basket is too large for our door and
requires cutting metal.

This is correct except the 6x9 momo's are three way but I don't think there
are any high highs coming. The 6.5 db series door speakers are coaxial. Off the stock amp. I never run higher than 18 volume and my ears are not so good from working in factories, 16 or more bothers my family, so it is loud enough and clear.

Matchbox 20 sounded great today, nice bass.
I've also got a new collection of zeplin. The car is the only place I hear
music anymore.

The 6x9 momo retail around $190. CC and electronics express run an
offer, 50% off a second pair of Polks. I've seen
20% off one pair occasionally. Ebay has some better prices on the 6x9.

The db 650 door speakers are in the $90's a pair, 50% off second pair for
the rear doors is $145 for 4 speakers, this is a good value.

I'm glad you like your sound.

But you have at least 6 tweeters, and some people would say you have 8... and you're just using the factory amplifier?

I don't notice too much highs. Some of the highs are filtered from the
rear door and none to the 6x9. It's fine. I set the audio neutral.

It's a heck of alot better to me than the factory TL system, and
infiniti bose , both I had service loaners from my dealer. From what
I could compare it to it's pretty good.

Maybe someday I can get into amps but it seem difficult and expensive
and I don't see the need. Wouldn't in take two 4 channel amps to do the TSX?
