i use to have the stock speakers in my tl when i first changed my headunit.. the only thing is you will loose the stock sub... but if you are pretty knowledgable you could easily get it to work with the aftermarket headunit... but you will need a metra wiring harness and a metra dash kit.. dont know the exact numbers but i know they are posted somewhere in this forum.. and there are also people that have changed the stock speakers while retaining the stock headunit.. you may want to do a search for this subject before some of the others flame on you...

I currently have the stock speakers with a new HU. Going with Focal 6.5 inch speakers all around next weekend, and a custom JL Audio sub and 5 CH JL amp. After replacing the HU, the stock speakers just did not cut it for me.

i would agree that you are not going to get that great of sound out of the stock speakers but they will work and should be able to get you to when you are able to upgrade them.. hey porshah... reguarding your system.. dont you think you will be sevearly underpowering those rear focals.. with only 25w that is almost like powering it with the aftermarket headunit.. ... i only say this because i was thinking about doing the same thing as you when i first put my system together.. but after some consideration i decided to do the 2 amp thing..

shawhite...You really think the 500/5 is not enough to power all the speakers?

i think that it will power the front stage and sub great but you are only going to be giving the rears like 25w... so i guess it depends on what speakers you are going with in the rear....

Shawhite is correct. 25 watts would be underpowering those Focals. If fade to front or do not listen very loud, you should be fine but, if you are going to be turning the rears up as loud as the fronts, they are really going to be starved for power. Underpowering can do just as much damage as overpowering, if not more.

Thanks guys. I think I will go with the JL 300/4 and use my Alpine MP350 amp for the subs.
