Anyone have experience with Orion speakers?

I'm finally upgrading the system in my 03 TLS. Decided to go with the Eclipse AVN5435 for the head unit.

I'm still deciding on which speakers I should go with. Does anyone have any opinions or experience with Orion?

Also, anyone in the DC Metro/Northern VA area know of a good audio shop?

Thanks for the help.

I didn't realize Orion still made speakers. Wow....uh I had a friend back in 1991 that had 12 Orion 12"s in the back of a Blazer....Needless to say, it had some bump.

With what's available on the market, I just can't see much reason to go with Orion anymore.

BTW, I do like Directed Audio speakers and a/d/s/ speakers a lot, so it's not that I'm hating the House of Snakes or anything.

Do you have a budget? How far are you from Va Beach?

I will most likely go with the Eclipse AVN 5435 for my head unit; there are not too many places around here that carry it. One of the few that I found also sells Orion speakers so I was just curious.

Trying to keep the front speakers less than $400, and less than that just to fill the rear.

VA Beach is a little over 3 hours from me.

I believe the Orions would be too big to fit in the doors. The ADS 245ix are awesome speakers. The Dude should have a better opinion on them than I would.

I love the 245is, especially the tweeter (plays waayyy low, and is the same tweet as in the $700 MSRP 3-series speaks).

Not thinking the coaxial mounting would work in the TL though, if you were going mating-spacers... I'd put that tweeter somewhere else.

You mentioned the 245ix, what about the 246, would that fit?

Any other speakers you think are comparable to the a/d/s?

how are there subs?

Thanks

That was a typo on my part and yes the 246ix would work with spacers. I agree with the Dude that the tweeter is one of the best I have heard. It reminds me of the old Phillips dome. Now everyone knows just how old I am.
