my question is, why change the deck in the first place. Its a great sounding deck, and if you leave it you can maintain the steering wheel controls and other things of the sort without a ton of extra money and work with all those stupid add on adapters. The deck in there is great, it plays cassettes along with 6 cd's, I know the cassette thing probably isnt a very big deal to anyone anymore though. I'm gonna leave my deck in my TL-S when i get it.

I was getting a quote from the people at SteetEffectz, and he said with some re-wiring, I could retain the voice on the Navi. Even though I find the voice irritating. Wish there was a way to upgrade to voice module to a Porno Star Voice. Just Kidding . But it can be done so I am told.

I've never been a fan of stock head units and the BOSE unit is no exception. Personally I think it's sounds horrible. If you're planning to upgrade speakers and amps then why not change the head unit too, you will get cleaner sound. Plus there's an adaptor available that will let let you use the steering wheel controls with any aftermarket unit.

Yep, bose really sucks....I was really let down when I heard my stereo for the fist time....the imaging sucks etc.
And you can retain the steering wheel functions! I love it, I was sooooo happy when I found I could do that!
I still don't know about the voice on the nav....I may start calling around....

It involves installing a small, powered Alpine speaker for the Nav voice alone, that is independent of the aftermarket head unit and speakers.
I don't like (or use) the voice feature much, but when I do want to hear it, I can and it's fine.
The existing headunit is made by Pioneer I think -not Bose like the speakers. It's not bad, but if you're going to spend money to improve the amp and speakers, a higher quality, clean head unit can make sense.

actually the unit is made by Alpine OEM and the amp has Bose circuitry inside it for equalization somewhat tuned fo rhte CL's interior..... The Voice on the navi can be done but it would be best done with a powered speaker and if your deck has a cellular mute wire on the back..
