Another sub and amp question

Well i am continuing my search for a good sub and amp that wont break my wallet. The sub that i have been looking at is the Audiobahn aw120t. I dont no much about this sub except it looks good. The different amps that i have been looking at are Audiobahn a4002t, Audiobahn a8000t, Bazooka el1500, Bazooka ela500.1, pioneer gm-d510m, and a kenwood kac-8101d. I really dont know anything about these subs except that thee audiobahn a8000t sounds really good. Any advice on these amps and the sub would be greatly appreciated. Also if someone has a good system that they got for 300 dollars total please tell me waht it is and how it sounds. Once again thanks

So $300 for an amp and a sub... does that include the box? Wiring and cables (amp kit)? Shipping, obviously... and not install.

I am not a fan of Audiobahn or any of the amps mentioned, really. Hard to think that others wouldn't do better.

Here's an MTX 12" in a box for $99:

Here's a slightly better one from MTX for $149:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=13332

Here's a 300W bridged Orion for $149 with high-level inputs built in (perfect for the 6x9 speaker wires in the trunk)(made overseas now, but as good or better than Audiobahn, which always has been):
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=13474

Here's a 400W bridged Hifonics for $159:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=13122

Here's a $29 amp install kit with a set of RCA's you won't need...

That's $280 plus shipping for the Orion, MTX, and cables. Go slow boat shipping and you'll hit your budget, I would think.

The box should be able to accept a better 12" down the road if you want.

" they look good"
thats about all they do well. many experienced people in the car audio world have all called audiobahan "car audio jewlery" at some point.

i guess the main issue is if you are familiar with their specifications (ill be very non technical here)
they don't have a very good cone excursion
they take a lot of power to make sound very good which means you will need a lot biger amp
they also require a fairly large box.

for the most part if your looking for a sub with bling you picked the right one. if your looking for a sub that proforms and gives a good value for the dollars spent, shop elsewhere.

some of the items eldude reccommended would be fine. if i were in your shoes i might also consider JL, phoenix gold, an entry level eclipse. pretty much any of the low lever subs these days will get the job done.
if your going for somthing a little more serious i have a few more suggestions. what is your spending limit? its a lot easier to reccommend somthing for you if i know the following:
1. budget
2. how much bass do you want?
3. what do you expect from the system as for sound quality, what music do you like
4. how much trunk space are you willing to loose
5. what will the rest of the system consist of?

if you can provide these details i can help you design somthing that will fit for you. i can also help you save a little money in the process.

I went to the local sound advice and the the sales guy helped me price out a nice system. Unfortunatley he said it would cost around $600. Then i asked him to sit in my car and tell me if it really make that big of a difference. HE was really impressed with the stock setup of the tsx and said i should hold off on subs. I agreed and saved myself $600. I really apprecite the information and advice you and eld have offered me. thanks

xtant is owned by MTX and there's no reason to think the guts of the sub are any different than theirs... I figured the 5-sided sub was a gimmicky knockoff of the square Solobaric and I haven't followed it either. Might sound fine, but not expected to be anything innovative by me or by the xtant reps I've talked to...
