i have the alpine cda-7873, boston FX5, and alpine sps-6939s all installed now. i want more bass though. I plan on adding a amp and sub. but my budget is also limited right now. should i go with a mono amp for the sub or should i get something more fancy? i just need a little more bass, nothing "rockin'"

and what kind should i get? alpine mono going to a jl or eclipse? or plain o RF? btw, i want a 10"

In my legend, I have a single RF HE 12" in a sealed box and it is enough to make my head shake a little but not enough to truly violate and sound ordinances. I am running it off a simple 2 channel Clarion amp, although i don't suggest trying to do that as the amp needs some for of cooling to hold the sub....

 

suggest what? just getting a mono instead of a 2 channel for 1 sub? and what about cooling? wouldn't a single channel be cooler than a 2 channel?

 

Yeah, if you can, get a single channel amp, you are right in your thought. I was merely refering to what a pain it was to install the fan in my setup. But if you match the sub to the amp right, on a single channel, i don't see where you would have any problems.
