Amp Question

Alright I can't get my Amp to turn on, I haven't hidden my wire or anything, so everything is easily accessible... I have a 4 gauge power wire with an 80 amp in line fuse running straight to the Amp, I have it grounded and I have the remote wire going to the hot wire to my driver side rear 6x9.....All fuses are intact...If anyone can help me plz do so...Thank you for al your help in advanced...

Thanks Again,
Derek

I am a little confused on the remote wire. Do you have it hooked up to your speaker? If so, that will not work. The remote has to be hooked up to a switched power wire that either comes on when the car comes on or only when the radio comes on. Just to check your amp, you can hook the remote up to the amps power wire to make sure the amp works. If I read the post wrong, I apologize. Straighten me out if I did.

You need to get a good ground for sure. The paint needs to be scrapped away and even sanded down to the bare metal would be best. I use ring terminals and drill a small hole into the car. Then run a screw thru the ring terminal and into the hole. Ground is very, very important. Also, the best place for remote is at the head unit but, if you do not mind the amp coming on whenever the car is on, you can use a wire that is only on when the car is on.

Couldn't I jus put in a toggle switch between a fuse and the remote wire? and jus kill the power when I want?

If so, what size Fuse should I use and should I jus run it from the fuse box?

You could do it that way but, it would be kind of a waste. If you are tapping the fuse box just tap a wire that turns on with the car and you are done. The fuse size really would not matter much. The remote pulls a very small amount of current. Just enough to tell the amp to turn on.

The remote wire for the stock sub didn't provide my amp with enough juice to kick the relay on (even with the stock amp totally removed), so I had to run a wire up to the fuse box and tap a switched line.
