Amp Problems ?????
Amp Problems ?????
My Left Side Speakers lost all sound, then everything went. I thought that it was a bad wiring job or something from the Pioneer speakers I had put in almost a year ago. Took it back to Circuit City had the MGR himself check it out. All wiring was good. He suggest the AMP is going.
Anybody else have this issue ? I have an appointment to take it to Acura in the a.m. Will they HASSLE me with the fact that I had all 4 Speakers Replace ?
Need a little advise.
Thanks

basically, you're probably screwed on the amp... Acura will see that there is aftermarket speakers in there, and give you your car back... as stupid as it is, changing the speakers will void the warranty on ANY of the audio equipment, and anything associated with it.
I'm sorry but I don't think the warranty would cover the amp since you replaced the speakers. The stock speakers and aftermarket speakers have differenct impedance. Normally, it would result in a loss of volumn, not killing the amp. You can ask the dealer to prove that the amp was killed because of the speakers. Personally, I'd be happy that the amp was gone because it gives you a legit excuse to get a real amp.
Good luck.

How much do you want to spend?
Who is installing?
How long do you plan on keeping everything?
You will need to run a power wire for the amp.
You will need an input signal. You can get the signal at the head unit or the input to the bose amp. You cannot use line converters because you bose is blown.
Amp Questions
Q. How much do you want to spend?
A. No more than 200, prefrebly LESS
Q. Who is installing?
A. Circuit City or Tweeters probably--leaning toward Tweeters
CC, screwed me up one too many times
Q. How long do you plan on keeping everything?
A. Long Time

My Question: Can wiring be ran that will continue to allow speaker volume to be controlled by Steering wheel if the Amp is Changed ????
QUALITY Sound, NOT WATTS is MY Main Concern. I realize that anything more than 40-50 Per Channel--given that our Stock is--25 per channel-- is Just "GRAVY".
I'm NOT looking for LOUD, but I am looking for Extra Nice Sound
Thanks

you know, i seriously doubt that your amp is blown. if cc did the original install, it's probably a wiring problem. i had my first system done by cc and i got nothing but intermitent noise. so i redid my whole system by myself. just the same, since you already have aftermarket speakers, it would be better to go ahead and change the bose amp. the steering controls control the head unit, not the amp so it will still function. your installers will have to solder some rca connectors to the outputs of the headunit to connect to your aftermarket amp. the output of the headunit, though weak, is LINE LEVEL. so if you get an aftermarket amp that has speaker level inputs, and use those speaker level inputs, the outcome might not be right....noise, bad signal....i dunno. i haven't done it that way yet. better to have your installer solder rca connectors to the outputs of the headunit and connect those rca connectors to your aftermarket amp. if you need the wire colors, let me know. by the way, i'm still working on those pictures for you. it's 45 degrees outside now.....might be able to do it. i might add, if you plan to keep your car, might as well invest a little more for quality and durablity.
caddy, did you check the connector at the bose amp. if your left went first, then everything else followed, it just might be the connector in the bose amp came loose. i would still recommend changing the bose amp, but if you're not ready to change it out, it might be worth checking the connection yourself first. just pull out the jack, the plastic compartment that hides the jack and then remove the screws that hold the carpet lining, you'll see the amp behind the lining. just pull out the connector by pressing the little tab that holds it in place, then reseat. if that doesn't work, time to change it out.

Thanks Man
Yea, my daughter's name is AMY, I edited the Original post when I read back over it. AMY=AMP
I do plan on changing out the AMP.
Quality of Sound and Space is the # 1 & 2 Concerns. Anything you recommend to go back into the original space. I'd like to save my Trunk space if at all possible. Still thinking about Basslink, but I've been thinking about that for quite awhile now.
