amp hookup

Where can I look on the net to find how to hook up an external amp to a head unit?

You need a hi-low converter. It has like 4 wires or something that on one end of the box and RCA outputs on the other end. I don't really know, but i had it in my pathfinder. I don't use it in my CL, since i got a new headunit. You can get the converter for like 20 bucks and look at the instructions and a wiring diagram of the bose harness for install. Good luck.

Actually, you dont need a high-low level converter. The outputs from stock head unit is at low level. Just tap a pair of RCA cables to before the Bose amp and you got your amp input signals.

Nope. If you tap from the speakers, you will need a converter. W/o a converter, you would have to tap before the Bose amp, not after.

I used to have it in my system when I used the stock HU all the time. The scenerio changed. I used the screen 95% so I took out the ground loop isolator the last time I messed with my system. However, I know for sure ground loop isolator works. Just ask JSuppi. I put one in his car and he couldn't be happier.

I don't mean to sound stupid, but what is a ground loop isolator? I have been hearing about it for a while, yet have no idea what it does.
Can someone provide info or a site where i can find it!!!!!

You spelled Houston Houdston in your sig .

Quick Silver:
A ground loop isolator keeps ground loops from oscillating in your system. I'll paste this from another post I made...

A ground loop isolator does nothing more than break ground loops you introduced when you hooked your equipment up. Did you ground everything to the same point? Sometimes you cause oscillations in your grounds by not doing that. Think of it as...hmm...one of those little 5 ball structures you see on a desk where you lift one ball and it hits the remaining four, knocking that one up, and back and forth it goes. You creat that push-pull oscillation and it never disappears. The isolator dampens that to the point of elimination.
