alpine type s 6x9 question.....not a repeat (I think)
Is there any way of removing the tweeter from the alpine type s 6x9 speaker. I am having a problem with the woofer hitting the bottom of the tweeter. I know I could get the MB quart component system, but I don't want to have to buy an amplifier to power it. Also, I checked out the fosgate 6x9 components, but the mid-bass only goes to 50Hz. Any ideas?

you dont have ot buy another amp for the mb quartz 6x9 component. it'll still sound good. all you have to do is just connect the factory rear wire to the crossover net work and you're done. you can use the tweeter than came with the 6x9 on the rear door. just run some extra wires.

I think if you remove the tweeter and the cone goes further, you will probably destroy the speaker pretty quickly. I doubt it's made to go that distance. You need to turn the bass down, OR passively crossover some more freqs off the speaker OR try different speakers, OR remove them completely and use a sub. (just trying to offer as many options as I can think of)...

DUDE...if you are hitting the tweeter with your woofer in the type S.....it HAS to be distorting......
Frankly i dont even think its possible with distortion to hit the tweeter.....
but if it is happening, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE for that to happen without full distortion....turn the bass down, if you need MORE bass...GET A SUB!!!
(this reply was not intended to be mean or harsh, just 100% honest)
