Alpine MP3 changer in a TL

Sorry if the answer to this question has been posted, but I looked for anything on it and came up with nothing.

Over at NSXPrime, some guys figured out that an Alpine CHA-S632 or CHA-S634 changer could be connected to the OEM system in place of the factory CD changer with the help of KCA-130B and ACUALP or HONIL (depending on NSX year) adapters. Is this swap also possible for TLs, and if so, what adapters might be needed for my year (1999)?

Once again, sorry if this had been answered before, and thanks to anyone that can help.

i found out that alpine has a special adapter to convert the ai-net connector on the mp3 changer to the regular 8 pin m-bus connector...this should theoretically work with the other required adapter and the stock headunit.

Yeah, I think that's what the ACUALP and HONDIL adapters do, with one being 8-pin and the other 14-pin (I think). I'm just not sure and I was hoping someone here could give me some sort of definite answers before I go out and buy stuff.

Fury TLX, what year model is your TL? I talked to a stereo shop and they said it'll work for 2002 TL and up as well as pre- 2002...Basically works for all TL models. Their labor is $60 plus parts totals $440....I am thinking of doing it myself which will cost only $300 (order parts online)...it looks simple enough..just plug and play.

ryang,
Glad to have inspired you. Your post about the install is awesome. I think I'm gonna go ahead and do it for my TL and my Odyssey.

randomwalk101,
My TL is a 99. $60 for labor would be okay with me. That way if something goes wrong, I can always b*tch to someone else. But local retailer prices would push the mdse cost to high $300s just like you, and I'm a little wary of ordering from some of these lower cost online stores. Decisions...decisions.

BTW, ryang, what year was your TL anyways?

random: order the parts online and do it yourself... it's really really easy! hardest part is getting the wire from the front to the back, just pull up the panels and guide it on down... under the seat is the trickiest part... no biggie though!

fury: thanks for the compliments... and I have a 2000 TL
