All New Speakers in the 03 CLS6 (PIX)

I've been out of work for a while, and have a good amount of time on my hands, so I figured I would contribute after all the valuable information I have received in the past lurking.

Here is a project i finished in the fall, replacing all of my stock speakers with aftermarket ones.

In the front doors I put in CDT 6.5 components, which were a headache to get in. I had to increase the diameter of the opening in the sheet metal to allow for the basket of the speaker to fit, even with a 3/4" MDF spacer!! To do this, I put a stone grinding bit on my drill, and put some elbow grease into it. Mounted it using bolts from Lowes, and lock washers. Sounds good, runs off the stock amp. I also modified the sail panel where the tweeter is located, and put the new tweeter in the stock location. (NO Pics Sorry)

In the rear deck, I was able to put CDT CL-69 6x9's in the stock location, retaining the stock speaker covers, and avoiding the torsion bars in the trunk(Barely!). To do this I bought a 1" spacer and cut away some of the interior fiberboard to incorporate the spacer. Mounted it using 1 3/4" bolts and corresponding nuts from Lowes. Sound Great! even on the stock amp.

If you have any questions concerns or comments, ask away!

PICS:

Looks good man But I like the stock speakers its just there not very loud and have no bass at all ares those ones louder and I think? for me the rear speakers would be to close it Would rattle from my subs

But it looks good and now I know all the work im in for when I decide to upgrade my speakers!!

I don't have subs. I really like the bass the speakers put off, since it's just a driver. I imagine with some power to 'em they would sound VERY nice.

That system you describe is crazy! did you have a giant alternator or what!?

My system does in fact get pretty loud. Not insanly loud with the lowered sensitivity of the aftermarkets, but with the tweeters goin, any louder would be to shrill, and drowning.

if you want to be sure, but I think it's in the .5-1 ohm range too

It's because the HU is putting out signal for normal speakers, while our Bose ones run on a different impedance range... there is some kind of converter thing you can get... go talk to a car audio guru somewhere...

You need this so you can adjust your levels:

ohh i see. i just talked to the frys guy and they said i have to bypass the amp and install new speakers. which is really pricey. but if i just got that PAC OEM-2 thing would that just get rid of my buzzing sound?

As long as your running stock speakers, yea. Im running the stock speakers and a JL sub. When I first installed everything I got the buzzing/whistling sound. I spoke to Uncald4 on here and he said I didn't install the OEM2. He was correct, and it fixed my problem.

You just wire it inline with the headunit harness. There are two knobs for gain, front and rear. You can adjust as if it were an amp.

Obviously if you are running aftermarket speakers and an aftermarket amp, you don't need this.

I' going crazy with mine. My Memphis components are too thick for the front and my memphis 6x9'S magnet is too thick. I have problems with my trunk lid torsion bars. I just had this speaker from my last car and don't want to buy new ones. I don't think I can install any 6x9's in the back that can withstand the 100 wrms watts per channel that I'm gonna send them. Any suggestions?????????????

Just measure how much space you need and buy a small sheet of MDF from Home Depot/Lowes and make your own.

I used a spacer as well. as seen in the pictures. A scosche ss69. However I don't think they make the slim one like I have anymore.
