Question aftermarket navi 01 cl

I just bought my acura 01 cl. It didn't come with navi. Do you know any aftermarket model that you would rec or do I have to buy the stocked one? Is the factory navi good?

The factory navi is very good, its made by alpine. Other than the harness, antenna, display and DVD unit, you'd also need the navi model dash panel and climate control. Its nice if the car came with it, but its expensive to add to a non-navi model. The harness is the worst part as its part of the cars wiring, it cant just be removed.

As for aftermarket I recomend alpine, they are top of the line and use the best navi software. They just came out with a very nice double DIN unit that has a 6.5" touch screen as the face... however, you'll need to do some custom work in the car to get an aftermarket double DIN unit in the dash. They also have single DIN units with the flip out screens, also very nice units, just dont appeal to my taste. There is a single DIN dash kit available for the CL, which would allow any single DIN unit to fit nicely in your dash, in place of the stock head unit. Keep in mind, your car has the stock Bose stereo, which can create its own set of headaches if the new head unit isnt installed properly.

Kenwood also has some nice Navi-capable units, but their navigation system is priced very high (unless it has come down).

Very untrue. Kenwood and Alpine use the same navi software program.
And it sucks compared to Pioneer.

Factory Navi sucks even more!

Aftermarket Navi, gives you the endless possibilities of mp3 playback, direct ipod, xm radio input. Aftermarket Navi has more POI's (Points of Interest)

Alpine & Kenwood only have 6 million points where as Pioneer has 11-12million points almost double.

Pioneer has the option to add xm navi traffic to give you live traffic reports(where available) no other brand has the option to.

Pioneer uses 3 sensors to determine its location. VSS (Vehicle Speed Sense Wire), GPS locating, and a built in Gyro. If your vehicle does not have a VSS analog signal like a bmw, then the navigation can still function just not as accurate.

Kenwood/Alpine has only VSS and GPS locating, if you do not hook up VSS the navi will not work. So solution to those cars without a VSS wire? You buy a $500 add on VSS module that you hook up to your wheel so it has a VSS.

I have had both Pioneer and Kenwood. I prefer the kenwood nav much more than pioneers. Faster routing, easier to use and the unit im using now, kna-dv4100, has 10 million points of interest. My advice is to go with kenwood/alpine. Just my humble opinion.

I agree with the Kenwood, but not really with Alpine. Personally I would have gone with Eclipse but $$$ I got a deal on the N2.

Im doing my research on these units too....

So far Im leaning towards the new Kenwood DDX-6019
The only reason this model got me, is b/c of the bluetooth technology...

U can talk on the phone through the car....Just like the new TL's
As long as u have a Bluetooth phone!!!!

It also has rear view camera, navi. upgrade, TV tuner, and it comes with a 6.95" Monitor.....

That's a little bigger than the others...

Still doing my research tho......Im not in a rush to get it....
I don't want to spend all of that money, and then in a few months they come out with a better one....Im gonna take my time
