aftermarket headunit fitment?

will any aftermarket headunit fit in a 03 tl-s? im looking to get one that has an ipod player/charger and something that will upgrade the sql of the current system.

post whatever success/failures, likes/dislikes of headunits you all have, and maybe some pics so i can see what it would look like in our console.

EDIT - No steering wheel controls and no Navi voice anymore, Lose 6 disc indash.

Yes any din sized radio will fit with dashkit.

My suggestion, add a iPod adapter.

As far as SQL.. If you aren't changing the speakers and factory amp. There's only a small difference..

Checkout www.scosche.com they have dash kits both single and double din kits. colors match. you will lose your steering controls but can be modified. Nav unit you will be able to run voice through speakers. Some will allow you to send voice to driver speakers only and will mute music for directions. Scosche also has a bluetooth setup for ipods that work great.

I had an Alpine 9884, and friends with the 9886, and I love their Ipod integration. You can also pick up an adapter from Crutchfield so that you keep your steering wheel controls. Only problem with the Alpine's is their internal eq, until you step up to the 9887, which is a very nice unit, but you can get better eq's from some of the pioneers. I'm currently running a Pioneer DEH-6900ub, and love it. I have yet to use my Ipod with it since the Ipod would be run through the USB.

Some headunits will have a add on for steering wheel controls. As for the iPod, most headunits now will have a iPod adapter available depending on the model. This will allow you to control your iPod through the headunit. You can also use an aux input if you have one and either hardwire for a 3.5 stereo jack or use a bluetooth setup. Only thing is that you will use the iPod not your headunit for controls.

I have a Eclipse AVN 7000 setup with Scosche's bluetooth and it works great. I just set my headunit volume control at a certain level and use the iPod to adjust volume levels.

I don't think Scosche makes a double din kit for 2G, at least it doesn't say so on their website. Metra makes one, you can buy it here:

P/N is PAC-SWI-X, the headunit has to have a wireless remote to make it work though.

I have a Pioneer HU installed in my 02 CL, they used an adapter (I'm not sure from where) so the Bose amp could be hooked up with the new HU and it does sound better and plays quite a bit louder than with the stock HU. I think this is because the stock unit puts out a lower voltage to the amp, compared to the Pioneer unit. I did lose my steering wheel controls, but I never used them anyway.
