Aftermarket H/U in 03 TL-s question

I have searched but couldent find a real answer. What wiring harness did you all use for a aftermarket H/U on a 03 tl-s with navi and auto cilimate? Also any tips on bypassing the factory amp to run a aftermarket speaker amp? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

I also did some reading about bypassing the bose eq. Confused the hell out of me. All I want to do is run a alpine HU to a kicker 2 ch amp to 1 set of comps in the front doors.

Metra Harness (70-1721)

There is no amp bypass. The TL BOSE amp is in the deck. There is a separate amp behind the rear seat for the subwoofer. The are instruction to integrate that in the DIY section of AUDIO/VIDEO. You also don't need to bypass the BOSE EQ. Once you pull the factory deck the BOSE is gone! Easy!

When I had my system installed I had my sub amp connected to the stock Bose subwoofer wire as an output and had the front speakers connected to the audio line out from the deck strait to the amp.

I've had my system since the day I bought the car back in 02'. No problems.

Let me know if this helped.

All I did in my CL was hook the head unit up as normal with the metra wiring harness. I now have a system amplified with both the Bose amp and my new Pioneer head unit's amp.

It gets really loud and clear compared to the stock system. I had to hook up the Bose amp's turn on lead to the turn on lead of the deck...if you do not need the Bose speaker amp to come on, you don't have to connect it , since you are running a seprarate amplifier.

The CL and the TL have completely different BOSE systems.

What is different when it comes to hooking up a head unit?

The TL has a factory sub that needs to be integrated into the new headunit in order to work.

The CL has an amp in the trunk that should not have full deck power piped into it. It doesn't sound good. And it will fry your BOSE amp soon. You need more oem integration parts in order to add a new deck correctly.

Factory sub...more like factory midbass. I'd rather spend the money on a sub/amp combo than keep that "sub" there. That's just me of course.

I'm not understanding how my Bose amp is going to fry when it works 100% correctly right now. Are you saying it's going to overheat under hard use?

And it DOES sound good, more headroom is never a bad thing...I have all the speakers crossed over so they don't sound distorted one bit.
