Aftermarket amplifier issues

Ok, I've installed an MTX 801d and an alpine Type R in the back of my TL (2001). I've done all of the wiring perfect (4 gauge to battery and ground and RCAs from back of head unit subwoofer out to 801d and remote turn on lead from back of head unit to the 801d). The amplifier does not turn on even though everything has been hooked up. I took out the stock amplifier as well but do not wish to cut the "puke green" wires to solder to RCAs, I want to run the RCAs from the back of my head unit to maintain the 5v preout voltage coming from it. My remote turn on lead is connected to the antennae power from the back of the JVC Exad head unit (should work, works like a charm in the explorer). So, is the factory amplifier's wires interfering with our amplifier from functioning? Is there anyway I can just remove all of the wiring from it at the back of my head unit (not sure which it is). Thanks for any help.

Oh, I did read the DIY post on here but I'm still having issues with what I'm doing.

Could be dumb question. But did you hook it up to the power antenna wire?

Dude, that's exactly what we did and fixed it. Hilarious how someone mentioned that, my pioneer runs the lead off the power antenna wire and works fine, but with the JVC it doesn't. Thanks anyways though.

I also tested my thunder 9512 in a nolteaudio.com snailshell and the thing destroys my car. My rear of my trunk flexes a good inch or so. Sounds pretty good, the 9512+SS to 850 watts rms is still pretty loud compared to it when I have it in my explorer hooked up to 1600 watts rms.

so wait, did you say it works now?

i think some headunits will send power to the power antenna whenever it is on (pioneers) meaning that if it was connected to an antenna, the antenna would go up whenever the headunit is on

I had to hook up an external switch to my power antenna cause my pioneer always sent power to the antenna, and i don't want it up all the time, especially cause I rarely ever listen to the radio.

others headunits only give power to the power antenna when it's on radio mode. which makes a lot more sense for actual antenna usage. So maybe your amp will turn on in radio mode if it's attached to the power antenna? i don't know really.

wouldnt' hurt to check the fuses as well
