Advice for crossover placement replacing front speakers

I'm thinking about replacing the amp and speakers in my 03' 6speed. Researching replacements brings me to components sets that have a stand alone or seperate crossover.

Anyone have any experience inside the doors? Is there room for the crossovers in the doors with interfering with window operation etc?

Is there a better location to place the crossovers??

Thanks

Otis

There's space towards the right(Left for Drivers Side) bottom of the door panel for the crossovers. You're going to see an oval shaped plastic part where the crossovers should fit. I'll try to post pics in a few days

I had mine mounted here. Plexi screwed to the door panel.

NSXNEXT: Looks nice man. Where did you get the dark grey door panel cover? I wanna get rid of that white garbage bag look-a-like crap that the CL come with.

That's Cascade, same stuff at Dynamat. I just removed the white plastic piece.

Road noise is definitely reduced.

There also is dead space below and between the 6 1/2 and the door jamb (front of door). The x-overs that came with my JL Audio's are mounted in that location, which keeps everything somewhat centrally located. Just another option.

Thanks Y2K3CL-S. Did the location involve cutting into the door panel. Thanks.

Actually no. My xovers are physically mounted inside the door, so they're neither visible nor accessible - unlike the way NSXNEXTs are mounted. With the stock 6 1/2 removed, you can reach in and feel around to see that the space between the speaker and the door jamb is relatively free from other things. My xovers were set for the front seperates, and then you can use the xover housing as a template to mark the location of the two screw holes. Then all you have to do is drill two holes to either accomodate the screws (or you can replace with a nut/bolt combo or you can just use a tiewrap if you prefer), and after you get done wiring up your seperates you mount the xover inside the door and affix accordingly. Doesn't get in the way of any moving mechanism within the door, and doesn't stick out and get in the way of the door panel either. Again, this normally means that you don't have the opportunity to constantly change the xover points unless you like taking the whole thing apart each/every time. I kinda like what NSXNEXT did with his, but I can't tell if his xover is thicker than the JL Audio one that came with the XR650CSi's that I'm using. Something to consider.

NSXNEXT...that's a fuckin great idea man. i saw streetz do that once but i think he used wood or something. never thought of using plexi. i'm getting tired of my crossovers constantly fallin whenever i remove the door panel...or sometimes i hear it hitting the plastic. when i dynamat my door, i'll do that as well. but i may need to trim the black plastic peice on the door panel...that horizontal piece anyway cuz the boston pro's crossovers are kinda huge i think. any one know a good way to trim it...or just get an exacto knife and start carving away?
