Adding Subs and an Amp to my CL Type s

I just bought a new White 2001 Type S CL. The BOSE sounds good but is nowhere near the BOSE that was in my 97 Vette. I need to add Subs and an Amp. Any Suggestions on Product and how to hook it up using the Bose system...Thanks

Well, I personally like Alumapro subs with phoenix gold amps. It all depends on the $$$ you want to spend and what kind of sound you are looking for. Give us a call or shoot us an email to discuss further options:

I've got a Precision Power amp and a Polk Momo 12" working with the stock setup and it sounds really good. Fills in the low beautifully.

I suggest tapping the line level outputs from the headunit just before they get to the stock amp that's in the truck near the jack. You won't need any converters of any kind (though you might need a ground loop isolater, $15 bucks at Radio Shack) and will get the best sound quality.

If you do a search in the a/v electronics forum you will find detailed instructions on how to do this... there are also schematics for the stereo system floating around in this forum too.

mcdanjw ,
Great Looking Car, I have enclosed a pic of mine. I bought two JL audio 10's in a box and a 400watt amp. If you come across instructions on how to install or Schematics, please EMail them to me at darkstar@telepak.net. Do you think any competatn installer will know how to do this?

How far did you lower the car with the Eiback springs and what size tires are those on it. H

I don't think any installers will know what do to on their own, but if you provide them with the schematics, anyone that you would want to work on your car should be able to figure it out.

I've got the schematics on my computer at work, so I'll e-mail them to you tomorrow. If you want, I can give you specific instructions on how to do it. I just don't want to type all that up if you don't need it. Let me know.

LowFlight,

The Eibach's dropped it about 1 to 1 1/2 inches... I've got 215 35 18's on it now, but am going to get 225 40 18's after these wear out. That should fill the wheel well nicely.

Gee, fellers, I don't live in Austin,Texas like y'all, but here in the Washinton, D.C. metro area, (specifically Northern Virginia) our "competent car audio installers" DO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Myer-Emco did my install, and, guess what? They did it all by themselves, and it actually WORKED the first time!

However, Confucious always say, "Better to have Blowz schematic than to f*&% things up big time." I'm sure your newly-added BASS will help compensate for the Bloze low-fi components (aargh).

technoid, what with being in Texas?

LowFlight, I did the sound system all by myself and it WORKED as soon as I re-connected the battery and hit "power" ( I dont consider myself being professional installer). Why are you expecting your system not working when it's done by professional installers?
