adding sirius satellite to factory system?

ok i've seen similar threads around but not exactly like this.

i have an 03 tl-s with bose system and navi. i might replace the h/u and speakers later but the most immediate thing for me is to add sirius.

is there anyway i can get sirius and use the bose system to control it? if not, can i hook up an external unit directly behind the h/u so that i don't need to use the fm signal to listen to the radio? if that's possible, what adapter, if needed, do i have to buy?

thanks,

I am looking to do something similar with my 03 cl-s w/ navi. I don't think you can control the sirius with your factory radio, but you can hardwire into the factory radio and lose the fm modulation.

One company, www.dension.com, makes some adapters that can integrate an ipod into your factory radio and has an aux input for a satellite radio.

www.blitzsafe.com also makes an adapter.

i'm not sure which one is better though.

I'm looking to do the same, though have had no luck finding any such product. www.vaistech.com is the closest thing, but it's only made for Lexus/Toyota.

I asked my local audio shop about it, and he said the guys at vaistech said it might work with the acura head unit, but hadn't tested it and would not guarantee it. Feel like being a guinea pig?

Anyway, if you do find a way to integrate sirius into the head unit, you will be a hero to many people

I emailed the guys at soundgate about Sirius adapter for Acura cars, and I got back this encouraging news:

We have talked about creating such a product for Honda vehicles quite extensively. Sirius has also told us that they will be developing the product themselves. So until we here what Sirius is actually going to do, we will not be starting anything.

The VAIS won't work.

There are a couple of kinds of adapter.

One emulates an external CD changer and gives you audio in. With that adapter you can connect anything you want, but you need a seperate controller. Blitz makes one like this, So does Soundgate. Works fine. You need a Sirius Starbase or Sportster or something like that to control it.

The other translates from one flavor of sat radio to another. Like with BMW, you can use XM Direct in place of the OEM Sirius.

No OEM sat in your TL, no adapter exists.

I KNOW there are posts on here showing sat added to various cars...

I have an 03 TL-s that I had a service tech go in and give me a couple of RCA input on the tape deck ciruit board. I never used the tape deck and now I have full range audio input for my Sirius tuner...
