Added a sub/Loss of bass frequencies?
Added a sub/Loss of bass frequencies?
Hey all,
I just installed an amp and a sub in my '04 TSX.
Amp (Mono) = MTX Audio Thunder801D
Sub (12") = Kicker Solobaric S12L74
My amp has an LOC built into it...so I just took the signal from the rear 6x9's and ran them into the amp.
Today on my way into work it sounded like the sub wasn't producing a full range of low frequencies. Is there a frequencey cut-off at all using the 6x9 signal?
Please advise

I have connected the R 6x9 speaker wires through a stepdown network on the input of an audio real time analyzer, with the HU playing pink noise, and I saw a flat response with no change in output with changes in volume (in other words, turning the volume up did not cut the low bass like it does in some other new cars).
So it might be the LOC in the amp...? I'd try a better LOC - the Audiolink is good.

i agree with elduderino - Make sure your X-over settings are correct. that is most probably what's causing the problem. since it's a mono Sub amp, It's going to only have a LP crossover. Make sure the crossover frequency is at the correct point. for your situation, i would probably set it at about 80 hz. Solo-baric subs don't produce midbass at all it seems like, so keep it 80hz or below.
