Acura TSX '04--Installation of a Neo IOn SP with a CD changer
Hi, first post!
Has anyone ever installed a Neo IOn SP? Their site is www.mp3yourcar.com . Their instructions say to connect the adaptor directly to the CD changer port on the factory radio. I'm hoping that I can connect it to the AUX on the back of my TSX's head unit so that I can use my iPod but still have the CD changer. Anyone with any experience and/or speculations, please respond. Thanks!

Edited to add "welcome"...
Neo makes a sort of multi-interface - plug in the right harness and flip the switches in the right config and it works with many cars.
Are you talking about "still have" the in-dash changer? Or are you the first one with the Sony trunk mount?
I would be concerned if the Neo has good TSX support given the 2005 XM problems... but I would certainly try one out. If you can wait 24 hours I can possibly beat that price for you... have to call someone...

Yes, I am referring to the in-dash CD changer. Optimally, I would like to use the aux port on the in-dash to hook up the Neo.
Any info on a price break would be extremely appreciated!

FYI, none of the AUX input widgets eliminate the use of that changer... the HU has the software ability to add another changer, and the SHOND, the Blitzsafae, etc., all emulate that changer, fooling the radio into thinking it's present and letting the AUX button select that input.
I have to call my guy tomorrow about some other stuff and I bet I can help... stay tuned!

Ok...sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a little new at this. I understand how the SHOND and the Bliitzsafe adaptors work. The Neo says it "includes a car adaptor." Do you have to use something the like the SHOND with the Neo or can the Neo do it on its own? Thanks!

wow, i just looked at the site and am interested. i wanted to go with the monster icruze but it seems as though its NEVER going to be released. has anyone tried this neo thing and see if it works? it doesnt say anything about navi/non navi compatibility. im very interested in getting one if anyone has had any experience.

I e-mailed them and they indicated that it was not navi compatible. But then, if they use the Blitzsafe or SHOND adapter plugged into the aux port to emulate and the external CD-C, then the adapter version for Nav TSXs should work fine.
If you have an 05 w/XM, you'd need to give up XM capability. There are current workarounds for this, but they are convoluted and not perfect.

i really want any one of these interfaces to connect my ipod. i already have the blitzsafe for navi, but just cant justify spending 200 dollars for any of these 'adapters'. im not stingy, but thats just rediculious for a box that does nothing but connect a 300 dollar piece of equiptment to a car. i wish they lowered the price. 100 is too high in my opinion, but id pay it at this point.

I see now reason why the Neo wouldn' work with the Navi, since it ends up with the same connector as the IceLink/SNHOND3 adapter. Of course, you will need to buy the extra Honda harness and splice it with the Neo harness, and possibly give up XM if you have a 2005 TSX.

i have the blitzsafe adapter for navi (took it out because i dont like the sound quality with the headphone jack). Im sure I can use that... I have to look at the denison site and/or get an actual cost on the icruze to see which is priced best. $211 is too much for just the controller unit portion of it, IMO.

I agree. I had my credit card out and ready to order the IceLink without the SNHOND3 adapter from Logjam for $170, but it is no longer on their site, and I can't get myself to spend an extra $30 to get it from Dension. I don't think the IceLink unit should cost more than $150 without the auxillery adapter.

I just talked to a rep on the phone. I'm good to go because I don't have a nav system.
The rep indicated that they do not officially support the nav system but that "some workarounds" like that might be successful.
So...I've just got to scrape up the cash and get on the waiting list for the part (it's back ordered, grrrr). I'll post pics when I get it working!

Hmmmm...I've hit a bit of a snag. Anyone have any ideas for getting the other end of the Neo Ion, the end that connects to the iPod, back out from behind the storage bin without dissasembling the center console? It seems to be a pretty tight fit there around the sides and such.

Where do you want to put the Ipod when you have it in the car?
If you wanted to leave it in the storage bin, it would be a pretty easy install IMO.
