Question 99 TL Replacement Head Unit

For the last few months, the stereo in my car has been crackling and screwing up with the sound levels. Restarting the HU seems to fix it, but it occurs almost every time the car is turned on. It is VERY out of warenty, so no shot there.

My questions:
1) Is this a replacemtn job a person of normal skills could do?
2) does anyone have a copy of the instructions posted somewhere that i could take a look?
3) anyone know where i can find a replacement HU (bose i think, with the CD changer)?
-or-
Anyone know of a Fairly cheap HU (~100-130 USD) that supports both the OEM CD Changer (6 in the trunk), AND the Buttons on the steering wheel?

Thank you for your help,
Erich Keane
