99 CL w/ Bose, got a question..
...I just put in a Alpine 9853, and I would like to get rid of the factory amp. How hard would it be to run the stock speakers off of the head unit? Also, would it even be worth it or should I just axe the stock speakers? I don't want to spend money doing this, maybe like $100 or so
So you live in HB hu. I used to go to school there. I was there when the beach riot happened; people flipped the cops atv's started them on fire....all was fun & games untill they pulled out their billy clubs.LOL, I almost got trampled on. Before I moved from cali I was in costa mesa right near Nike town. Anyway back to your question
For a decent set of speakers like maybe CDT's your looking at 100-150. Im not sure if the first gen CL's had tweets in the dash or sail panel, but if they dont then I would use the braxials to keep your install simple unless you dont mind making holes somewhere.

where were you goin to school?
Do you guys have any components you recommend? Also, how hard will it be to route these speakers to the HU? I've been told I can get rid of the rear deck speakers as they are virtually useless.

Did you ever upgrade your speakers?
I'm also in the market of upgrading my stock crap. looking at Alpine R series speakers, and JL Sub, Dunno about amp.
a local shop was offering a JL 10w7 with the 500.1amp & alpine cd/speakers for about $1100 or $1200 with installation, but they would probably do a shoddy job with shoddy speakers since the cd player looked ghetto. lol, but the sub & amp would've been worth it.

I've been thinkin about sellin my car too before I upgrade the audio. But my car is running well, and the book value is low so I wouldn't get much for it. I reckon I can run it for 3 more years until I get out of college and get a job. just need that paint job & the audio upgrade if I'm going to be stuck in LA traffic for 3 years. LOL

get the JL Audio XR Components. You'll need to get a 4 channel amp.
i'd switch out the 6x9's also. I dont like the 6x9s or the mmats coax speakers (6.5")
that i have. I am switching to CDTs. all together expect around 400 bucks for
speakers / amp / labor.
