2004 TL Stock Stereo question
2004 TL Stock Stereo question
Does anybody know how to remove the factory stereo?? or can someone show us a detailed picture on how the avelectronic unit was installed.. pictures would be nice.. thanks.
mine is in the trunk, i never removed the head unit up front. since they provide a plug that directly plugs into our factory navi in the trunk, I left it back there, the only wires i ran up front were the swtich for the avelectronic unit, a/v wires to the external dvd player up front, and the power/ ground/ ignition wires. I actually double side sticky taped and zipp tied my unit to the back side of my xm radio unit which is right around the corner from the factory navi player. with the trunk put back together, you'd never even know it was there.
only thing i'm not happy about is the amount of sound loss i got after hooking up the unit. let me know how yours turns out. meanwhile, i'm looking for a fix on mine.

i have done it...
first removed the Silver trimming on the side.. it all snaps off..then removed the screws.. that you see under it.. Top center vent pulls out forward towards you .. pops right out... then you will have to pop to two sides out to get to the other screws.. so drop your glove box as well.
i juss finish a 2004 TL at our shop... here are the pics of the dash... that i completed... There is no kit for the stereo .. I had to custom make one for it.
