2003 Type-S. questions

I've read through the DIY sticky and have searched but havent found what i'm looking for. I would love to have a double din (who wouldnt?) but i do not have the cash. I do however want to change out the stock speakers and sub so my question is.....

Can you run 2 amps, one for all the door speakers and one for the sub off the stock headunit? If so, what parts will I need to do so?

I'm looking at the Focal Polyglass Coaxials because i dont want to drill holes for components and just running a single 12

Thanks in advance for any help

For the price you will pay to make the stock unit sound good you might as well save a lil more for a double din.

My first setup was with the stock unit, and had separate amps for the sub and interiors, and it got loud but the SQ was lacking. Just get a decent double din or a nicer cd receiever.

wont adding an equalizer work well? I've found those for about $100. The cheapest ive seen a Pioneer Avic D3 is $699, plus $180 for the dash kit

Listen I really like the indash screen but they are to some point "pointless". But if thats what u want I say save up for one. Unless you get the JL cleansweep which is a interface you will get nice clean sound. Here is my dash without a double din. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/gallery/de...ehicle_id=1422. I have no harness because everything was hardwired.

by the way thats a great price for a D3. Also do you need subs or boxes? What amps are you planning to run?

The only reason i was looking at a double din was to fill up the space but if i could get a dash kit to look like yours ( i have black interior so it would have to be the dark trim) i would just get a regular deck. Where did you get that dash kit?

I really want to run Focal coaxials front and rear, i dont feel like drilling holes for components, plus its $400 just for the speakers without install so thats already expensive for me. I plan on running the Alpine MRP-F450 to those and a 12" Alpine Type-R with an Alpine MRP-M850 to that. The only reason i chose Alpine for all of that was because of the price, about $640 for everything brand new. But if i can get something better for the price please point me in the right direction.

Also.....I know alot of the decks now have built in EQ's and some have the Imprint sound but would it be ok to hook up an equalizer to the deck for further tuning? I think that would also look good in an install like the you have in the link you posted
