2 12W6 v2 & 500/1

I plan on getting 2 JL 12 W6 V2's and a 500/1 amp. Would this amp be sufficient for powering the subs or would the subs be underpowered? Would I be better off getting the 1000/1 amp if money was an issue?

You could never have enough power! The 500/1 would get the job done, but the 1000/1 would be better! You might upgrade to W7s someday

i would say that the 500/1 would push the 2 w6's very nice... but if you want more power i would certainly consider other brands than jl's 1000/1... personally i believe this amp is over priced... i would look into the phoenix gold titanium series..... just my opinion

Does $750 for 2 JL 12 W6 V2 and a 500/1 amp sound right to you?

ya it is... a 500/1 amp is about $500 (JL amps are $1/w), leaving $250 for two JLW6V2? wow...

Yeah I figure it was a good price. I actually sent him 770 becuase I felt bad shipping was so much since he had to package it with foam and everything. He also added 30' of 0 gauge and speaker wire.

YES, u got a badass deal!! Each W6 can handle 400 watts so you might be underpowering them. I got a JL 1000/1 powering 2 JL 10s W7s which im happening to install today when i wake up. Remember, wit JL subs, use ported boxes for best sound!! I think its call transmission line?? But i think you should buy one more 500/1 or get a 1000!!!

Ball, I do plan on getting another 500/1 amp. The guy who sold me the subs told me I can use a sealed box. He had a sealed box made out of some material I never heard of and hooked it up to a JL machine to get best results. Would there be a big difference between a sealed and a ported box?

YES, i will post pics ASAP.... just bought all the wires and stuff today!! Mang, its a bitch using 2 awg wire, had to buy expensive distribution blocks, and fuses, etc I also got a set of Focal Utopias on the way, shit should be screamin by next week

Dennis: Well, W6s should be fine in a sealed box, my friend just hooked up 3 12s W6s in a sealed box, he said his shit bangs hard!! And he's only using one JL1000/1!! Im going wit a ported box because the W7s has a huge excursion, the ports makes it easier to move.... But remember, i heard ported boxes wear down your subs quicker. But i think da W7s should take the abuse

SCREW the w6v2s, lol. I went straight to the W7 from the W6 and im glad i did. Im runnin ONE 10w7 with a PPI A600.2 and i cant imagine any louder. My friends with their 12's and wave boxes cant compete, and they spent more then i did. Do your self a favor, and this is for everyone with a CL, save yourself money and space, spend 350 on ebay for a W7, build the sealed box urself from the JL specs, and spend 150 bucks on an PPI amp off ebay, i had the A300 runnin it and upgraded to the A600 and its a big difference, now for about 550 bucks total, im runnin 700 or more REAL watts throught a W7, and its sick as hell, trust me, this combo cant go wrong!

I hate the trunk!!! I just put in 2 12" pioneer 450w (im low on cash and got them for 250 with 4 year warrenty and box) and I need some dynamat but its so damn expensive. My trunk is so thin b/c someone made a big dent in it twice and i had it taken out and reworked. Sucks!
