actually no that doesn't sound good at all. The retail on that amp is about 379, and i would have to belive that the two amps you are being asked to trade are worth more than 79 combined. Also, being a memphis dealer and in such close proximity to their headquarters I would have to say that in an acura I wouldn't suggest using an pr1kd unless you have beefed up your alternater. They are very current hungry at times wanting over 100amps by themselves. I would venture to say you ought to be able to find a better deal. that or save up, the new mclass amps from memphis ought to be shipping to vendors this week.

so which amp would you reconmmend? i just bought 2 image dynamics subs, 600watts total, you think i should just keep my 2 jl e1200s which will put out 400watts?? could 200 watts make that big of a difference?

nope, I would keep your current amps. You really need to double the power to notice much of a difference. And with 400watts/sub, you are in fine shape.

WOw the Memphis PR1000D draws up to 100 amps of current. That is not a very efficent class D amp.

Actually it can draw upwards of 120, but i have yet to see anyone actually push it that hard. The truth is the PR line of amps are good solid amps that are at a more affordable price point from memphis, but they are horibly inefficient compared to the mclass amps.

to cArKc, just as it has been said already, keep the amps you already have. they will provide enough power for you to be pleased.

got my subs in yesterday, 2 12" image dynamics (idq) it actually is 350 watts each 700 total, i have 200 watts going into each sub 400 total... the subs are loud as hell and i am very satisfied, just got me wondering how much louder it woul be if i was feeding my subs 700 watts instead of 400......

he's basically saying you won't double your power (technically) you will, however feel alot more bass...

I'd say enjoy the way they are now, and then once you get use to them you can, upgrade.

I'd suggest a Concept CC-D1200 amp, it runs 1200watts at 1 Ohm, probably around 700 at 2 Ohms...

How many ohms are your speakers?

WHAT? Uh, no, that's incorrect.

He's saying that your bass will NOT be ANY louder to you. If you increase the power to a speaker, but you increase it by LESS than 100%, you get a volume increase that is impreceptible to humans AS A VOLUME INCREASE.

THe bass may very well sound DIFFERENT - the drums may sound snappier, tauter, less muddy, less blurred, more immediate - but VOLUME will not noticeably change.

I don't think that you will feel ANY more bass. Just not gonna happen. Depending on what you listen to, it might sound different... but not louder, not more.
