06 TSX new 6x9s but NEED HELP!
I just purchased a brand new set of Infinity Kappa 693.7I 6x9. I'm actually a newbie in terms of installing speakers but i observed how the factory speakers were installed and placed and tried installing it myself. It wasn't too difficult to remove the factory speakers and also wasn't difficult to install the brand new speakers. I had some slight trouble wondering where to plug in each wire but figured it out by reading the manual. I cut the connection from the stock speakers and spliced the red and black cable with the crossovers the Infinity's came with. Was i correct in doing that? Anyway, the problem I THINK i have is that after installing these new speakers it seems that the sound isn't all too great. In fact when the bass hits i hear a lot of distortion and "dirty bass." On some songs the bass sounds "thin and tinny." Also, these infinity speakers are 3way 330w at 110w RMS and i don't hear any mids or highs. It's just all BASS. Were the factory 6x9s intended mainly for bass while the other 6 speakers for mids and highs? I know i'm not getting the full experience w/ these speakers due to the lack of an aftermarket amp but i assumed even w/ the stock system still intact, installing new 6x9s would make a huge difference in sound regardless of the current setup. If someone can please help me as to how i can fix the sound that would be greatly appreciated. ThankS!

1. The stock speakers are 4-ohm speakers whereas your new Infinity Kappa 693.7I are 2-ohm speakers. I think the amp is overdriving them.
2. The rear 6x9 speakers on the TSX put out only bass. They function as subwoofers. The crossover is in the OEM amp so the wires to the 6x9s carry only low frequency signals. For this reason I don't think you need the crossovers that came with your Infinitys.
Check out the Audio& Video Forum FAQ section. There is a lot of good information on the TSX's Audio system. Particularly you should read through the General FAQs about the TSX Sound System.

You didn't cut off the factory wiring harness connector did you? If so, you would have been better to buy the adapters - plug goes into the factory socket, other end usually has push on connectors that match most speakers (if not, cut them off and them make any connections.
I'd be curious if you are able to improve your sound. I've looked into the Infinity's because I think they have a pretty high sensitivity, and I'd like a little more volume without having to start upgrading amp's. I think the 2 ohm rating might contribute to this, it wouldn't be good though if it makes the sound worse, not better.

2ohm speakers will cause amps to overheat and just plain die, if they aren't designed to handle 2 ohm loads. The fact that it keeps playing badly is impressive, I think. Stock amps and decks rarely handle 2ohm loads. (The exception is the 5th gen. Prelude, oddly enough.) Anyway, find some 4ohm speakers that are rated to play low frequencies if you want to use the stock amp.
Now, you could make the 2ohm speakers work with an aftermarket amp (that is rated to handle 2 ohms), causing a lot more sound to be produced than 4ohm. Note that I didn't say "better" but "more". ;-)
At least with the 3-way design, even though the tweet isn't used, you just paid extra for something that isn't used. The 2-ohm design just isn't compatible with the stock system, which is a problem.

I know the 6x9s in the back dont accept 2 or 3 way signals however when I have been looking for replacements for the OEM it looks like everything is 2 or 3 way 6x9. Who has a one way 6x9 qualit speaker? Thanks for suggestions
