05 TSX new door speakers....

ok, so i just put in some new speakers in the front doors, to complement the 8W7 and 250/1.....the goals were coax speaker- because i dont like the "tweeter 2 feet from the mid" sound, and no cutting or screw holes if possible. i finally went with the JL VR650-CXI.....i used the honda adaptor that Alpine SPS171A ships with- so no holes screwed into doors.....i tried the MB Quart PCE216 as a coax, but the way the the frame and terminals are, i would have to trim the metal in the speaker cavity. i only listened for a few minutes, but it sounded really smooth on the high end, even w/ factory tweets still playing...if anyone is wanting a high quality speaker w/ no mods- check it out......

Dude, I put a set of quart 216's in joercket's car, and no metal trimming was required. Were you making a spacer for it?

This was a TSX?

I know with the CDT's i put in my car, the speaker terminals had to be at the bottom (6 o clock position) when putting the speaker in, or else it wouldn't go through all the way. Since the opening bows out a bit at the bottom, the terminals just slipped in through that extra space

maybe it's the same deal here? maybe the speaker just wasn't rotated the right direction when inserting it?

yeah, these were the premium series mids i was trying.....the inputs are on opposite sides, and there are screw terminals and spade lugs....i used the 5/8 inch alpine adaptor, a 7/16 premade mdf spacer, and i even cut out a 3/4 piece of mdf shaped like the factory speaker....that 6 was just unfriendly....i may could have tried a reference series 6, but i did not want the 19mm tweet.....
