Short and simple: who has done this, and was it successful? I had a mobile install tech come by today to put the iSimple media gateway in - and after about 45 minutes he tells me that since I don't have a "dedicated" XM button, the installation will not work. However, I talked to a few other shops today (best buy, audio extreme) and both confirmed that the install should not be a problem on my car and the iSimple iPod integration should be 100% compatible.

Any thoughts here? How hard is this install to do myself? Seems most of the shops I called around to today have no idea how to do this on our vehicles.

It won't work unless you have the XM button. The iSimple plugs into the XM port on the bottom of the radio and emulates the XM receiver in both output and command input. It says on the package that it only works with Sat radios.

Now, there's not a "dedicated" XM button on the head unit. Its XM/CD/Aux. I know the 05 doesn't have the aux input, but do you have just a CD button, or is a CD/XM button?

 

It is XM/CD/AUX. This unit should install just fine then, correct?
