03 TL factory sub replacement

well ive done some searching and only found one thread from 05 from drcookie about replacing the factory sub. but it still left me with questions.
i would like to replace the factory sub with a:
MTX Thunder4500 T4508 (8" sub)
or
JL8W1v2/JL8w0
and any small 100-125w RMS amp i can find

my question is will this work? can these subs be installed in our factory location and not a true sealed inclosure? reading crutchfield reviews others have used the MTX as a factory replacement with great results.

my goal is to gain mid range sound/bass which i feel im missing from my current setup. view my sig for my current sound system. all advice and opinions would be great. thanks.

Replacing the 9" BOSE subwoofer on your back deck is not a good idea. It sounds like dookie and causes major rattles and resonance.

I was thinking about doing the same but that makes sense that it would rattle like crazy. Do you know if its possible to hook up the stock sub to a larger amp than the factory one? Or would it over power it? And I cant see potential for the same rattling caused by switching out the sub with an aftermarket one. Anyone tried this or know anything about it?

A few people have tried it. The factory BOSE sub can handle a decent amount of juice. I would run about 80 to 100 watts to it. If you did an amp with remote gain control you would be able to have control of the factory sub seperate from the other speakers.
