[TSX] Finished my system (pics) !

Well I finally finished installing my audio system in my tsx. I installed the speakers back in December, but didn't have enough time to do the amps until recently. To recap, the speakers are CDT CL-61A comps in the front, CDT CL-6x coaxials in the back doors and (temporarily) Polk dx9 6x9's in the rear shelf (hope to replace these with better speakers soon).

The new equipment installed are an Alpine MRP-F200 40x4 amp (transplanted from my old car) for the door speakers/comps and a Hifonics Warrior Hawk 50x2 for the back 6x9's. I also replaced my JVC KTSR2000 Sirius PnP unit with a Sirius Starbase ... sadly the controller was just a little too wide for the not an ashtray.

Anyway, here are all the pics I was able to take: http://homepage.mac.com/vasu42/PhotoAlbum7.html

looks like it was quite a task! only thing, is you might want to clean up the wiring behind the seat, don't want anything to get caught when puttin stuff in the trunk.

the only wires long enough to get caught on anything are the 2 going to the back 6x9's ... i just need to get a couple cable clips and clean them up. The wires are also long enough (and tucked under the rubber trunk liner) so that the seats can be pulled down independently.

How you like the CDTs all around, those were exactly the same ones I was lookin at for the front, the CL-61A's and the coax's for tight spots. Did you get the silk dome on the fronts or the titanium?

Im looking at the same speaks for the back doors for about the same price from theZeb.

http://www.thezeb.com/c-6-1-2-inch-M...eakers-272.htm

Im looking to price match or beat their price so I can get them a little cheaper. Let us know once you have pics of your new JL 300/4.

Upgrading Stereo in TSX

Hi,

Saw your pics and had some questions. Do you know the specs of the OEM amp? I got the dealership to provide wiring diagrams, but I don't have the rated specs on the amp. Where did you tie in to bypass the original amp to install your after market amp? As well, do you know if the signals sent to the speakers are already x-overed? Before or after the amp? & at what frequencies? I'd rather not repace the entire system as the vehicle is leased and I'm just looking to and an amp and 2 subs with it's own volume adjustment.

Any help would be appreciated.

wow, you're really a newbie aren't you?

there's a big bold FAQ at the top of the audio section that'll lead you to the answers

Congrats on the new stuff however you have a bit of hazard going with all those wires. Zip Ties? Velcro? Just a couple thoughts.

I can see what you're aiming for. A clean simple system.

Wiring. Wiring. Wiring.
It all comes down to wiring.
Pwr wire: Bat to dis block= 4ga
dis block to amp= 8ga
Ground=8ga

Rca's: upgrade to higher quality wire. That way you can get rid of that ground isolator.
I use Monster micro XLN's.

can't comment on XM .. but with Sirius, with the antenna mounted behind the back window like that, I've never had a single drop out in New Orleans, or when I went on 2 road trips (new orleans to galveston, tx and new orleans to mobile, al)

My XM antenna is in between the dash and the front window, and rarely lose reception.
