Cool OK Button Bypassed 100% - "AD" - DEFEATED!!

I can't take all the credit on this one, I want to thank my friend in"The small green country"

The patch below provides the means to remove the annoying initials branded on the previsouly released Navi.exe - Should work on all 3.XX

Download Navi.exe
http://www.savefiles.net/d/r4zto8r8p5vh8.html

Download the Patch (Password: lovetheirish)
http://www.savefiles.net/d/hmcgrq28r4ijv.html
OR
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6PCLKFO6 *UPDATED LINK*

Disclaimer text can be modifed as you like, however do not touch anything below "Please Wait..."

Apply Patch to Navi.exe
Update your .bin file using cebin **
Load new .bin
Enjoy-

Please reference the below thread for any additioanl questions, it does a very thorough job

For various reasons I posted my work around to the AD tag here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/all-complains-here-146712/

Should allow you to edit the entire screen worth of text.

So has anyone used the 3.40 navi.exe in place of the 3.60 navi.exe. Have you noticed any differences? As I found out the files are so different that you can't even use the crack on the 3.60 version of the file, but I was hesitant to use the 3.40 version as I didn't want to lose any functionality.

Wait so I'm confused. After I install the patch to the navi.exe file, the "AD" initials should now be gone and everything else should still be the same like "Loading Navigation....." and "Please Wait...."?

Within the Code (looked at via hex editor) the AD & URL will still be there

However, the "AD" will no longer be displayed.

Thumbs up Awesome Job

Funkymint, you did a good job of building on what was out there and fixing a known problem. Of course, you then shared it and didn't charge for it. Congrats and thanks.

Here's hoping that someone out there will come out with a patch that will go directly to the Audio screen at start up. For now, I'm happy for you guys and your innovation.

I just applied funkymint's patch to kennyc's navi.exe with updatenavi.exe. Worked like a charm. I then added back all of the original disclaimer text so that the system looks like stock (to an English speaker, no French disclaimer) except there is no need to push OK!

After that I merged kennyc's Trip Computer/Air Conditioner patch.

The Navi is much improved over the stock now.

funkymint,

The difference between then and now is I was made aware that AD is not even offering a tag free version anymore. My previous stance was AD had done all the hard work and if people wanted a tag free version they should either pay him for it or try to work around it themselves. I was even generally helpful in assisting anyone who wanted to have a go at it themselves both in the threads and via PM. Now that there is no option to pay for it I changed my stance.

Anyway, it can't hurt anyone to have more options. They can use the original AD patch, your patch, my patch I don't really care one way or the other. As I said in my post, I hadn't tried yours out yet but from the description it sounded like there was a limitation in the ability to edit all the text on the screen. If that isn't the case then there is no reason for anyone to use mine over yours.

I definitely meant no disrespect to the work you guys did. I do think it's great that more people were able to create a work around, the more people that are toying around with the code the more cool little hacks will end up emerging.

hey guys... i tried the above hack... and it doesnt seem to work correctly. Instead of getting rid of the OK button... it got rid of ALL the initial text (blank screen) and then a "GO" Button pops up which i HAVE to press in order to go to the navi screen. What did i do wrong? strange....

thanks,

I have version 3.4a disc. Works for me. Masterpoolcat seems to be correct though. Through either AD's patch, or your patch to remove the AD initials....one of you guys somehow programmed the navi to boot up with less lines. Before I installed the AD patch and this patch....I already had a modified disclaimer.

After I used the patches and made sure the boot up worked, which it did, I went back and tried to edit the text to what I originally had above. I made sure line for line that I typed everything back. Nothing shows up below the line "in Warren's car...". Seems like the patches somehow told it to stop showing lines a few lines before the "Please Wait..." line. Half of the lines I typed below the please wait line showed up. The other half didnt.

Someone mentioned they typed all of the disclaimer back. I dont see how that could be possible since I can not get all of the lines to show up past the please wait line. Am I missing something? Is this because I'm using version 3.4a?

Also, when applying a lot of customized text, you are increasing the file size. Dumpnavi can not replace the old file with the new one if its bigger. I just deleted a bunch of spanish and french text till my size was correct.

I'm not entirely sure, but make sure you're putting your new text over the old English text. I looked at the original Navi.exe and my edited Navi.exe side by side in a hex editor. I went to the first line of the original navi disclaimer and started typing my own text in there (the corresponding line in my edited navi.exe). You only have a certain amount of space per line. It looks like it alternates between english and french text. Only type over the english text.

My first attempt only showed one line because I typed over the French text, so it looked like my writing just went off the screen. I went back and only replaced the English text and it worked. I think you should be able to fit it all in.

Maybe that will help.

-Brian

edit: I take that all back after carefully reading your post. There may be a few lines at the bottom that you can't replace. I guess I don't have the answer.

I'm pretty sure I got all my text in the correct english lines and locations. Like I said, it worked before the Ok button patch. Also, it is hard to replace over the english lines once you apply the OK button patch becasue the patch already removes most of the english and french lines. You have to figure it out by line number and the spot on the line.

Warren, yes you are correct. Just the way it the code had to be done...
Sorry bud, you may have to re-write the commandmants

Alternative is, possibly modify your bootscreen to have your rules regarding fornification, and have the disclaimer read something simple.. Like

Loading Acura Satellite Linked Navigation

Please Wait...

or pleae see apnar's post, his workaround may allow you to modify that extra line, but would require manual patch process

I think its a worth while trade off (missing one line) over having to press OK

That's correct, Warren if you want to patch it by hand you can use the patch I posted against a fresh navi.exe (shouldn't be too hard as you are already hex editing anyway for the text). Then you can have custom text on every line.

Also in a semi-related note, you can actually run the text lines past their existing length. You just need to make sure at the end of each line there is a hex 00 which terminates the line. The nice thing is since the english text and french text are interlaced so you can make the english lines longer by running them into the french text. This applies no matter which patch you applied.

I've seen your workaround for it. Just didnt know how to use it. I assume that large list of numbers you typed was a line number and text code that needs to be typed in correct?

0038d69c: 88 92

So for this first line, on line 0038d69c, I need to type 88 92. But in what cell? Just the first two cells? Leave everything else alone on that line?

Also, do you know if the navigation text is till skewed to the left? Meaning, even though the OK button does not show up, it technically is there and you cant write text into that portion of the screen.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

This thing was pissing me off last night cuz I couldnt figure it out and I effed up causing me to have to disconnect the battery...which was kind of a pain in the ass. I was about to just give up and just shorten the text to:

Downloading porn.....

Please wait...

Warren,

In the example line 0038d69c is the location in the file, the 88 is what should already be there (not needed at all but it's a double check), and the 92 is what you type. So you'd go to location 0038d69c you should see an 88 and change it to 92.

Remember to start with a fresh navi.exe file though.

Not trying to beat a dead horse... but what's wrong of taking credit for the hard work he has done?

With that said, what have you contributed to the board lately?

Nothing is wrong with it, but most people already thanked him profusely and even donated him some money for his efforts. There was no need for him to lock his signature into the text being displayed. How would you like it if someone went to your house and signed your car or other possessions? Just seemed dumb. It's not like he was doing it for copyright purposes either. Many people, myself included, would rather push the stupid OK button rather than seeing someone else signature flashing in my face every day.

Apnar, in the same example above, is the C at the end of 0038d69c representing the 3rd cell in the row?

I cant remember if the navi coding rows was 7 or 8 digits/letters. Reason I'm asking is because if 0038d69c represents the row itself, and there are multiple 88's in the row, which one do I change to 92?
