Give them a call and see what the rates are and post back here or PM me. Normally there is a discount for 10+ rooms. I appreciate you helping with that!

Depending on the rates I'm going to push the Hampton Inn downtown. They have covered/valet parking with in/out privelges. They are also within walking distance of 6th St.

I'd be careful. If you want a hotel downtown, you should book now. For some reason, the hotels downtown fill up quickly and rarely have last minute availability.

This is not going to be a race, maybe a little "spirited drive". This is going to be about show, not go.

The Hampton Inn downtown is available and they will follow up with me in the next few days. I will see then if things are filling up or not.

I don't want to force anyone to stay at one place for this first event. The Hampton Inn has covered, valet parking, with in-out privelges. They do NOT allow you to park your cars yourself...but I'm sure they wouldn't mind going for a ride while you park it yourself. Please keep this in mind. I'll make special arrangements when we get closer to booking time.

The plan was not to have a big downtown Austin Acura Parking-fest after the drive. The idea was to get people together for some dinner followed by fun & drinks. Coordinating 20-30 cars in downtown Austin would be difficult. After our drive in the afternoon I want the rest of the day/evening to be relaxed and entertaining.

If you are not planning on a hotel but will be downtown for the dinner and partying then I'll need some help from any Austin locals to scout out a convenient parking lot to gather cars.

COUNT ME IN, camera in tow!

This will be part of the route for the day. I'm going to have a final map within the next few days.

For those that have not driven the Hill Counry routes before...this is the Lime Creek route which, by far, has the best windy, hilly, scenic route and is the most popular drive.

Keep coming back as information will increase, as we count down the days!!!!

Does anyone know of someone that can do some videos for us? They don't need to be in an Acura but would need to be able to setup ahead of us and take shots on different parts of the drive. Other option is to have a video camera in one of the cars.

Thank you for offering! It would be great to get as much video and stills from everyone that is capturing this and pull together a video montage for everyone to share after the event.

Not sure what the average age of everyone will be, but I prefer the warehouse dist area over 6th, then again, Im not 22 anymore. There is no way you can find metered parking for that many cars, no one would mess with them, as there are some pretty crappy cars downtown, and some 70K+ parked. Parking garage is the way to go. Iron Cactus is fun for drinks. The Ditch is a great place to eat some cheap mex food and get good drinks too, and its just off 5th. A great night photo op, with the downtown in the background is barton creek mall parking lot. Also, you can use Westlake Highs parking lot or any of the local schools along the route...big and empty on saturdays.

Along that route off of 2222 is Iguana Grill as well, very good mexican food.

Sounds good on the warehouse district. Can we decide on a place like the there like the Ditch? I'm not familiar with that area so lets get the Austin guys to confirm the restaurant and we'll go with it.

We should do the photoshoots on the drive or after the drive. Once we hit the restaurant and have drinks for dinner I don't think we can coordinate anymore activities. Lets relax and enjoy the downtown entertainment and hanging out at that point.

Here is the hotel - The Hampton Inn Downtown.
http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/h...tyhocn=AUSDTHX
As I had posted before, it has valet parking only with in-out privileges. Rates are $129-$149 for the night. If we can book a minimum of 10 rooms then we get a discount on the $149 rate, king bed suite, for $129.

I'm expecting a call back today and I will finalize the details after that.

Let us know Silver. When you do I will call.

Well a note I noticed on the website. They charge $14 a day for valet parking extra. Ouch!

Lets find another hotel quickly. Plus I don't trust Valet people

Whew, glad Im not the only one!

There's a parking garage within walking distance of about 2 blocks from Fados (great Irish pub), Gingerman, etc in the warehouse dist. We could pretty much take over the roof area. The Ditch is El arroyo restaurant, very cheap, but a local favorite, lots of outdoor seating (depending on the temp, they have heaters outside) I thought of it as they have tables outside that seat 20+ people. If its butt cold that day, obviously that wouldnt work. Just my take, Im sure the other Austin guys have some ideas as well. The only bad thing is, UT goes back the weekend of or right before that, otherwise, the downtown would have been all to ourselves. The guys that still want to hit up 6th, its a short walk to some of the better bars on 6th from there like Logans, chuggin Monkey, etc.

bad news...the Hampton Inn downtown does not have any groups rates available. They also confirmed that they will NOT allow anyone park their own cars and must use valet.

They still have rooms available at $129 and the rest are at $149.

I'm going to book in at another hotel. Because I'm not from Austin I'm not going to try to push any other hotel. Does anyone in the Austin area want to try suggesting another hotel?
